• State Seismic Mitigation Program (SSMP) The District’s application for SSMP funds for Horace Mann Building A was
updated and resubmitted in response to comments and questions from the Office of Public School Construction (OPSC). OPSC response is expected around the end of the year. Altogether, funding for 5 of the 13 eligible buildings is considered likely and up to $35 million dollars of funds could be approved for Phase I.
• Furniture Fixtures and Equipment (FF&E) Standards No new developments to report. • Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) Due to receiving State Funding, “No Further Action” (NFA) letters
are needed from DTSC for the proposed modernizations at El Rodeo and BHHS: o At El Rodeo this relates to leakage from the previously removed underground storage tank. Ongoing monitoring
of the Pilot Test Wells will continue until early November; and then a Remedial Action Plan (RAP) will be prepared and submitted to DTSC for approval. Once formally approved by DTSC the actual remediation will start. The work is projected to take through 2017. An application for the reimbursement of all costs incurred for the 2014/2016 period has been submitted to the State Water Resources Control Board.
o At BHHS the NFA is due to possible hazardous materials on the campus. DTSC has approved the proposed remediation for the area containing Building B. A RAP for the remainder of the campus apart from the Lacrosse field area previously cleared, has been drafted, and will be submitted to DTSC in November. Remediation will be carried out primarily through the construction contracts.
• Safety The following safety violations were reported:
o There was a “near miss” safety incident at the BHHS construction project involving a student on 10/17/16. A full investigation of the incident was carried out and a “safety stand down” by the contractor team was conducted to ensure similar incidents do not happen again.
• Labor Compliance There were no labor compliance issues in the month of October.
• COC/Audits The remaining 5 items of the 22 recommendations provided by the 2014/2015 Fiscal Year Audit Report
issued by Harvey M. Rose Associates are still to be completed.
• Facilities and Planning Procedures Manual Efforts to revise and update the Facilities and Planning Procedures Manual are temporarily on hold.
• Program Management Software A RFQ/RFP to procure a new Program Management software system will be issued
in November.

MASTER SCHEDULE
A high level overview of the current master schedule is shown above. Based on the Board direction at a study session on February 23, 2016; the overall schedule has been sequenced into 2 Phases with Phase I in the grey color delineating the work to be accomplished within the current Bond funding. All Phase II related work will be dependent on Measure Y.
The Horace Mann Building A Modernization Project is in progress and scheduled for completion for class to start in Fall 2017.
Beverly Hills High School Construction Documents for Buildings A, B1 & B2 and C continue in the DSA approval process. Design for Buildings B3 & B4 is in progress and projected to be submitted to DSA in early 2017. Demolition and Abatement of B1, B2 & B3 is ongoing and projected completion is February of 2017.
The El Rodeo modernization plan Construction Documents are with DSA and scheduled for approval in Spring, 2017. Demolition & Abatement on Bldg. A-‐D is ongoing. The Make Ready projects are projected for completion in December, 2016.
The overall Hawthorne modernization continues in Construction Documents design phase. The Hawthorne Auditorium modernization plans will be submitted to DSA in November.
The Beverly Vista deck waterproofing project is in redesign and expected to be substanitally completed during the winterbreak of 2016 with the exception of applying the waterproofing membrane.

Beverly Hills High School Project Status
Phase 1 (Measure E Funded) Projects
INTERIM HOUSING Interim Housing has been completed with the exception of some remaining close out Items. The outstanding punch list items were completed in October. DSA Close out items are pending comments for wall modifications and ADA parking lot striping. BUILDINGS B1 & B2 Construction Documents continue in DSA back check; approval is expected by the end of January, (See Photos 1-‐4) 2017. Abatement and Demolition construction work is ongoing. Additional hazardous materials
continue to be discovered. The modernization work bid process will start in late 2016, with work to begin in early 2017; expected completion is Summer 2018.
BUILDING B3 Schematic Design completed along with Building B4; The final Schematic Design package was
approved by the Board on 8/30/16. Prior to proceeding with Design Development, the budget needs to be approved by the Board. Building B3 Abatement and Demolition is included with Buildings B1 & B2.
SITE WORK Site Package DSA Approved; does not include final design development for the South Athletic
Fields. Partial site work to be included with Buildings B1-‐B4 work; majority of the site work deferred to Phase 2.
Phase 2 (Future Bond Funded) Projects
BUILDING A Currently under review by DSA; approval expected in Spring 2017. Modernization start date will be dependent on future bonds.
BUILDING B4 Design is concurrent with building B3 referenced above. The Board agreed to move B4 into Phase
1 if there are sufficient funds available. This will be the topic of an upcoming Board study session. Work tentatively scheduled to begin in Summer 2018; expected completion end of 2019.
BUILDING C Currently under review by DSA; approval expected in Spring 2017. Work tentatively scheduled to begin in Summer 2017; expected completion in Summer 2019. BUILDING E To be demolished after completion of Building C; tentatively scheduled for 2019. BUILDING F Minimal repair and deferred maintenance work; tentatively scheduled for Summer 2019. BUILDING H To be demolished in preparation for work on Building C; tentatively scheduled for Summer 2017. BUILDING L There will be very minimal work in Building L associated with modernization of Building A;
tentatively scheduled for Summer 2019-‐Summer 2021. SOUTH SITE WORK Design will begin in 2017 South athletic fields tentatively scheduled for construction in Summer 2019-‐Summer 2021. Final portion of the site work to be completed after removal of interim housing and the Venaco oil
wells, tentatively scheduled for Fall-‐Winter 2021.

Phase 1 (Measure E Funded) Projects
INTERIM HOUSING The close out process is in progress pending DSA approval to certify project. BUILDINGS A – D Construction Documents currently under review by DSA. (See Photo 5-‐8) Demolition and abatement work is in progress (approximately 90% complete) with scheduled
completion now in December. DSA Approval for Modernization work is projected in May 2017. The construction will
begin mid 2017 with the completion scheduled to be in Summer, 2019. MAKE READY PROJECTS (See Photo 9-‐12) Work is in progress and scheduled for completion in late November 2016. PARTIAL SITE WORK Construction Documents currently under review by DSA. Work to be completed after removal of interim housing and in coordination with the proposed
parking structure.

Beverly Vista School Project Status
SUMMER 2016 Repair Major Water Intrusion: NTP was issued on June 21, 2016 and work is scheduled for (See Photo 17-‐20) completion in November, 2016. The completion date has been extended due to additional work
needed to reinforce the structural deck which had exposed rebar. The specification package for the deck waterproofing is being determined and will be completed late December. However, due to the mandatory concrete curing duration, the waterproofing product cannot be applied until 28 days has passed from the time the concrete deck is poured. Correspondence has initiated with waterproofing vendors and architect to discuss options of possibly expediting this process. Due to this fact, the expected application of the waterproofing membrane is anticipated for late January.
Courtyard Grading and Site Drainage Improvements: This work has been re-‐scheduled to be done
during winter break in December, 2016. SUMMER 2017 Security fencing improvements, playground lighting, additional repair and deferred maintenance
projects currently in design and will be completed in the summer of 2017.
