All of our staff should be proud of the work they do.

And every spring we have

a special opportunity to recommend a co-worker

who has consistently done exceptional work.

The University will present

ten awards for merit of

$1,000 each to staff em-ployees at the staff recog-

nition luncheon. In addi-tion, the Baker UND Proud

Award of $1,000 will be

presented at the annual Recognition Ceremony for

Staff Personnel.

The Meritorious Service Awards will be given to

employees in each of five

major groups. These groups and the number of

awards presented are: Executive, Administrative,

and Professional (3); Tech-

nical/ Paraprofessional (1); Office Support (3); Crafts/

Trades (1); and Services

employees (2). The Baker UND Proud Award may be

given to an employee from any of the groups.

Eligible employees are

UND employees employed

on a regular basis who are not in a probationary peri-

od. Those not eligible for consideration include the

President, Vice Presidents,

Deans, Associate and As-sistant Deans, teaching

Annual Recognition Cere-

mony for Staff Personnel

Meritorious Service and UND

Proud Award nominations are

due to the Office of Human

Resources and Payroll Ser-

vices by April 13th. The

awards will be presented dur-

ing the annual Recognition

Ceremony for Staff Personnel

on Tuesday, May 17,

2011. Employees receiving

years of service recognition,

must contact Human Re-

sources in Twamley to obtain

their free ticket by Friday,

April 8th. There is no guaran-

tee that you can get a free

ticket after that date. Tickets

to attend the ceremony will

go on sale April 11th.

Summer Attire/Dress Code Many Facilities employees,

not to include office staff,

will have the option to wear

Facilities logo t-shirts this

summer. The official uni-

form for full-time FM em-

ployees during summer hours

will be either the basic sup-

plied uniform, or the logo t-

shirt with your uniform

pants. Students/Temporary

employees will now be re-

quired to wear the Facilities

logo t-shirt as their official

uniform shirt. Students/

Temps may wear their own

pants appropriate for the posi-

tion. Leyton Rodahl is coor-

dinating the ordering of the t-

shirts and may be contacted at

7-6057.

With summer hours rapidly

approaching, it is a good time

to review office dress

code. Office staff will not

receive the logo t-

shirts. Denim or jeans may

only be worn on designated

denim days or casual Fridays

as set by Staff Senate or the

Director of Facilities Man-

agement. If you are unsure of

what is appropriate, please

ask your Administrator for

your area.

John Bratton, Building Services was recently named the Staff Senate

March U-Shine winner. John was nominated by Kathy Freeman. Her

nomination read the following.

‘My daughter lost her wallet in the lecture bowl of Leonard Hall

during the second week of the semester. John found the wallet and

personally delivered it to our home early the next morning. This

eased my daughter's mind and prevented the need to report her cards

as lost, request replacements and saved her from all of the stress that

goes along with these type of situations. I believe John should

receive the U Shine award for going above and beyond in the bitter

cold that permeated the region during this time! Thank you John!’

Facilties Girls Go Red!

In February, Facilities girls participated

in Work Well’s Go Red photo contest.

Pictures were submitted to Work Well

from campus departments. Faculty and

staff were then able to vote for their

favorite photo. The Facilities girls took

second place in the Most Fun group cate-

gory. Pictured here from left to right are

Jim Weber Retires!

On February 25, 2011, Jim Weber re-

tired from his position as academic

maintenance supervisor after 21 years

of Service. A reception was held up-

stairs in the Facilities lunchroom. Well

wishers from across campus came to

shake Jim’s hand. Cake was served,

memories were shared, and congratula-

tions were

extended.

Supply/Inventory Update All future Surplus Property Dis-

posal forms (A-B-Computers)

coming from Facilities Manage-

ment will need a signature from

your administrator (Larry Zitzow,

Paul Clark, Mark Johnson, or

Laura Thoreson) AND then a sig-

nature from Debbie Merrill before

it will be accepted by Surplus at

Central Receiving.

Inventory Update – The Supply

annual inventory will take place

Wednesday, April 20nd, from

7:00am to approximately noon.

The Supply room will be closed

during this time so please pick up

your parts on Tuesday. Janitorial

deliveries will be on Monday or

Tuesday.

Annual Equipment Inventory –

The Annual Equipment inventory

sheets will be distributed to super-

visors on Monday, April 18th. and

will need to be returned to Debbie

on or before Tuesday, May 3rd.

In House Projects

June 30 is fast approaching and this year will mark the end of the biennium. We currently have many pro-

jects that will need to be completed and closed by the end of June. It is important that we keep the commu-

nication lines open and bring forth any concerns that may hinder the completion of these requests. A list of

the June 30th projects will be coming out soon.

Sara Peters

The spring picnic sponsored by

the Employees Committee will

take place on Wednesday, May

11.

A sign-up sheet will be sent to the

supervisors so a headcount can be

obtained to order food. Tickets

will be issued once you have paid

and your supervisor has turned in

the money. The Casual Fridays

have been a success, but it ap-

pears there is a need to raise some

additional money to cover the ex-

penses. There will be a minimal

charge again this year. More in-

formation will be available closer

Facilities Picnic

to the date. If anyone wants to

help with the preparations or cook-

ing, please contact your Com-

mitttee Representative or Chris

Plante. Chris is the chair person

for this event.
