Each day, parents, community members and staff demonstrate that our community is devoted to our District and the students we serve. Over the last several weeks, our facilities planning work has intensified. Facilities planning in our District is guided by a phased long-range master plan. Phase I of our plan was completed in 2016 with the construction the new Intermediate School and renovations at Heritage Elementary School and Prairie Elementary School. This fall, the District has begun re-examining its long-range facilities master plan and identifying potential Phase II projects to further explore. The District’s planning team is continuing to gather information and has begun the preliminary exploration of potential facilities options. Recent weeks have also seen three important Board of Education meetings. On December 9, representatives from Eppstein Uhen Architects (EUA) and Vogel Bros. Building Co. presented the Board with a facilities planning framework and timeline. The timeline details a series of milestones, includes several Board workshops. These workshops will serve as opportunities for our Board members to study key aspects of the potential project. Importantly, this schedule also includes multiple opportunities for staff and community input, including workshops and a community-wide survey in the winter and spring of 2020. Board members met again a week later on December 16 to study Heritage Elementary School. Board members toured Heritage and heard from school principal Dan Carter about some of the facilities-related challenges he and the Heritage staff encounter on a day-to-day basis. EUA presented the Board with several potential facilities options that vary in scope and extent. FACILITIES PLANNING UPDATE January 2020 On January 6, EUA and District staff led Board Members on a tour of the existing Middle School, High School and Teaching and Learning Center sites. The core planning team will use guidance provided by the Board to develop a range of facilities options for future Board consideration. Looking forward, the coming weeks and months will see: Continued development of facilities options Review of the District’s capital maintenance needs Estimation of preliminary costs Discussion of operational and programmatic needs Meanwhile, the District will continue to keep parents, staff and community members informed and involved. ACTUALIZACION EN LA PLANIFICACION DE LAS INSTALACIONES ENERO

DISTRITO ESCOLAR DE LA COMUNIDAD DE WAUNAKEE

Gracias por su compromiso con el Distrito Escolar de la Comunidad de Waunakee. Cada día, los padres, los miembros de la comunidad y el personal, demuestran que nuestra comunidad está dedicada a nuestro Distrito y a los estudiantes a los que servimos. En las últimas semanas, nuestro trabajo de planificación para las instalaciones se ha intensificado. La planificación de instalaciones en nuestro Distrito es guiada por un plan maestro de largo alcance compuesto de fases. La fase I de nuestro plan se completó en 2016 con la construcción de la nueva escuela Intermedia y las renovaciones en las escuelas primarias Heritage y Prairie. Este otoño, el Distrito ha comenzado a reexaminar su plan maestro de las instalaciones a largo plazo, así como la identificación de los posibles proyectos a explorar de la Fase II. El equipo de planificación del Distrito continúa recopilando información y ha comenzado la exploración preliminar de las posibles opciones de instalaciones.
