Why Global Cases?

Companies have countless options to meet their production needs in Asia, and we frequently get asked this question. We understand clearly that Quality, On-Time Delivery and Competitive Pricing are the cornerstones of any good factory but Global Cases also provides some unique advantages that few bag factories can match.

• We are an international partnership. Global Cases is a co venture with Chinese partners Jackson Peng and his wife Susan, Canadian expat and long –term Asian based partner Kevin McHugh and American Michael Selin.

Jackson and Susan Peng grew up in the bag manufacturing business, starting out as merchandisers in a growing bag facility in Southern China and working their way up to management positions before starting out on their own in 2003. Jackson and Susan are both the true “factory mans/womans factory man/woman”. They love what they do and they are exceptional at doing it.

Kevin McHugh has been based in Asia for close to 30 years, starting out as a professional martial artist and slowly graduating into sales and development roles for a number of highly recognized manufacturing facilities. Kevin is fluent in Mandarin Chinese as well as Japanese, started working with Global in 2006 and became a partner in 2010.

Michael Selin was the first foreign graduate from a national Taiwanese university, speaks fluent Mandarin, and having lived in China for over 15 years, possesses a deep understanding of the culture. Michael has been in the bag and pack manufacturing business since 1996, helping grow one of the largest bag manufacturing facilities in China. Mr. Selin is a true bridge between our foreign customers and our factory team. He joined Global Cases in 2010 as a partner and head of sales worldwide.

• After running a successful facility in Southern China for 6 years the Global Cases team chose Mr. Peng’s home town of Jiangxi for the site of their new world class facilities. Mr. Peng wanted to give back to his community, offering employment opportunities to the people he grew up with. The result? An extremely loyal workforce, and a factory with virtually no turn over. Global also has a development center in Dongguan, so there is no need to travel to Jiangxi for product development.

• In 2014, Global Cases hired a full time bag designer and developer, with 15 years working in the industry. We are able to provide design and a full range of development services for our customers, at no additional charge. Not everyone needs this, but if you do, we are here to help.

• Unlike nearly every bag factory in Asia, we have in house CNC tooling and compression molded foam, and are expert at making molded cases (though not just molded cases!). Molding foam in house eliminates an outside supplier and reduces tooling costs and lead times.

• Service....every customer is treated as a “big fish” with personalized service- not just the big customers. We are here for one reason- to ensure your bag line is brought to market on time, at the highest quality, and at the right price.

In House ODM Design Work

Global Cases now has in house design and product development capability, to better serve our customers in need of these

services in addition to production and manufacturing. We have recently brought on board an experienced bag designer,

Marty Wahl. Below is a brief description of Marty’s experience, please see his online portfolio for a representative sampling of

his work.

“I have worked in the bag and pack industry for 15 years, covering a huge range of different categories and end uses. I

began in the Outdoor industry, and over time have moved into luggage, accessories, electronics bags and cases, urban

lifestyle, back to school, leather goods and more. My résumé includes full time positions with several of the largest, most

successful companies in the Outdoor industry, notably The North Face.

My design ethos is simple: less is usually more, function trumps appearance every time, but the aesthetic of a design is itself

an aspect of function- it is never overlooked. My designs must not only work extremely well, they have to be pleasing to the

eye and show well at retail. When a customer is shopping for a bag, regardless of the type, the first thing they see is how

the bag looks. It is what draws the eye, excites the consumer…only then will they look under the hood and begin to explore

the functionality, fit, and features

I bring extensive knowledge and expertise in every area our clients need to successfully bring a bag program to market:

design, specifications, materials, hardware, processes, timeline, costing analysis- and a creative, original approach to bag

design.”
