Characteristics of active teaching Students are always at the center of learning but

requires an essential role of mentoring

Exercise self learning of students

Intergrate individual learning with group learning

Lecturer serves as mentor and organizer

Combine assessment of lecturer with self-assessment of student (formative assessment)

We have effectively improved the learning outcomes through active teaching and learning in our faculty

Practice Internship

25 students/class

2 students/group

30 – 60 hours/subject

Students do experiments required and write reports

Students discuss to their mentors for clarification of their results

Formative assessment can be made from results of all experiments

The 3rd year students are sent to institutions: Biotech companies, Hospitals, Universities, Academy institutes, Biotech centers, etc.

Internship duration: 1 month

Assessment:

- A report to responsive lecturer

- Presentation/Dissertation

Show some main things that might significantly influence on designing the learning outcomes

Advantages Disadvantages

Study program and syllabus have been carefully designed and updated (every year)

Many lecturers experience in teaching and doing research

100% of teaching staff have pedagogy certificate and have ability to use English and/or another language

Modern infrastructure and laboratories has been investigated

A lack of connection between our education services and business expectations

A strategy of improvement of student‘s employability perception is required

Teaching staff needs to be trained at higher education.

English use ability is intensively required for students after graduation

Level 1: Study program meets the pleasure demand

Level 2: Personal development

Level 3: Create the values for society

Increase time of doing practice for making job competition after graduation

~70% of students expects going to industries rather than to academy

Outcomes of study program need to meet business/industry expectations

Gain knowledge, skills and attitudes that make them (students) to be more

confident and effectively adaptable to job requirements (specific skills, types

and amounts of work experience, personal qualities, educational credentials,

professional certifications or areas of knowledge)

English in Biotechnology

~30% of students expects getting higher education (Master, PhD)

Start-up

Innovation

Run an own business

(Group interview)
