• Became Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology in 1994

Duration of Programme
• The duration of studies depends on a particular programme and the progress of the individual student. Basically, the minimum and maximum periods are as follows:
*Average semesters are the length of time when candidates usually completed their programme.
Programme Duration Master’s PhD
Minimum 2 or 3 semesters 4 semesters
Maximum 8 semesters 12 semesters

Starting from Semester I, 2011/2012 Academic Session, after all Curriculum Reviews have been approved, all mix-mode (Coursework & Dissertation) for MCS, MSE and MLIS will be 56 credits.
(which consist of 40 credits on Dissertation)

Conditional Pass
A Conditional Pass means a pass in the course concerned if the CGPA is 3.0 or greater in the semester which the course is taken.

Academic Probationary Period
Any candidate with a GPA below 3.00 in any semester shall be given a Probation and will be placed under an Academic Probationary Period in the following normal semester.
The Period shall continue until the candidate has achieved a GPA of 3.00.

Failed and Terminated
A candidate may be terminated from his programme of study if he/she-
i. does not achieve after three attempts the minimum pass grade for all courses for which the Faculty has made compulsory to obtain in order to pass;
ii. has obtained a GPA of less than 3.00 (even though more than 2.00) for three consecutive Normal Semesters.
iii. has obtained a GPA of less than 2.00 in two consecutive Normal Semesters.
