BACHELOR OF EDUCATION (B.Ed.) and DIPLOMA IN EDUCATION (Dip.Ed.)

Our Concurrent and ConsecutiveEducation programs prepare you tobecome a certified teacher. We offer youflexible B.Ed. programs allowing you tospecialize in your chosen program trackor concentration. You can choosewhether you want to be certified to teachprimary/junior or intermediate/seniorgrades. The Dip.Ed. program is for thosewithout a university degree, haveexperience in a broad-based technologyarea and are interested in teachingTechnological Education in grades 9 to 12.

As part of your studies, you will gainvaluable practical experience workingalongside other education professionalsin classrooms. In addition to yourclassroom practicum, you will have theopportunity to explore education outsidethe typical public school setting with ouralternative practicum placements. These3-week placements can be in any fieldrelated to your concentration and can bedone anywhere in the world! We offermany funding opportunities to supportinternational placements.

Concurrent Education (Con-Ed): One Program, Two Degrees

Are you a high school graduate andwant to complete a teaching degree?Our Concurrent Education program isfor you. Complete two degrees at thesame time: Bachelor of Education andBachelor of Arts, Fine Art, Music orScience with this 5 year + 1 summersemester program. Most otheruniversities only offer a six-yearprogram, we built our program so thatyou can complete your education soonerand begin your teaching career earlier.You may also choose to do your firstyear abroad at our castle in England, theBader International Study Centre, whichwill offer you international experiencethat sets you apart from your peers.

Consecutive Education: A Second Degree or Diploma

Consecutive Education is for those whoare interested in becoming educators orworking in the field of education. Ourprogram is unique because it takes placeover four consecutive terms, starting inMay and ending in August of thefollowing year. Most faculties ofeducation offer their program over 2 years, with fall and winter semesters.You will benefit from our uniquelydesigned program, because you willcomplete the program sooner and begin your teaching career earlier. OurConsecutive students join our Concurrentstudents in the final year of theirprogram, forming a community thatstudies, works, and plays together in the professional home that we offer.

MASTER OF EDUCATION (M.Ed.)

Our M.Ed. will help you advance yourknowledge and career in the field ofeducation. Working with our outstandingresearchers and experts in education,you will develop your critical reflection,innovative research, writing, teaching,and leadership skills.

You have the flexibility to choose your research focus and are not requiredto select a concentration. Instead, we offera diverse range of courses and connectyou with a program advisor to selectcourses that meet your research interests.

MASTER OF EDUCATIONWORLD INDIGENOUS STUDIES IN EDUCATION (WISE)

wise program allows you to pursue aMaster of Education (M.Ed.) withoutleaving your community, family, andjob. This flexible program is for studentswith experience in Indigenouscommunities and/or in Indigenousissues. Preference is given to qualifiedapplicants of Aboriginal ancestry. It is apart-time and blended program: coursesare on-campus during the first summerof the program and the remainder iscompleted online.

DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY (PhD)

Our PhD in Education will provide you with the ability to become a leader in yourfield with strong scholarly knowledge. Our graduate programs develop and supportinnovative research in education. Program course work and research opportunitiesemphasize the application and development of knowledge to teaching and learning.Our funded PhD is a full-time four-year program, which leverages expertise,collaborations, and partnerships within the Queen’s research community. Join our collaborative and inclusive research community of education experts.

ONLINE GRADUATE PROGRAMS

You can complete our online graduateprograms from anywhere in the world.Choose to take one diploma course orcomplete all diploma requirements andprogress to your professional master’sdegree. Our online programs are forstudents from a variety of settings –schools, governments, universities, and people in career transitions.

GRADUATE DIPLOMA INPROFESSIONAL INQUIRY (GDPI)

In both public and private sectors,inquiry is critical for informing teachingpractice and student learning. Our part-time Graduate Diploma in ProfessionalInquiry program consists of five onlinecourses. If you decide to continuestudying after you finish the GraduateDiploma, you can take an extra fivecourses to earn a Professional Master in Education.

PROFESSIONAL MASTER OF EDUCATION (PME)

Our pme is an online, course-basedmaster’s degree that allows you tospecialize in a concentration: AboriginalEducation, Assessment and Evaluation,Classroom Specialist, Literacy, orEducation Abroad. You will complete 10 courses in total, including amandatory course in organizationalleadership and an optional capstoneproject. You may apply to our pmedirectly, or after completing our gdpior Post-Graduate Certificate.

CONTINUING TEACHER EDUCATION (CTE)coursesforteachers.ca

Continuing Teacher Education (cte)offers online courses for teachersinterested in expanding their leadershipand subject knowledge. You can chooseto specialize in the subject and divisionsthat you are currently qualified in orexplore teaching in a new divisionand/or subject area. We offer online aqand abq courses for teachers in Ontario,and online tqs courses for teachers inAlberta and British Columbia.

POST-GRADUATE CERTIFICATES FOR TEACHERS

Have you already taken some of our ctecourses? You can bundle these coursesto receive a certificate. We offer Post-Graduate Certificates for teachers inOntario and British Columbia who wishto provide enriching and holistic learningopportunities for their students. Thecertificates consist of five online courses.Once you successfully complete yourPost-graduate Certificate with cte, youcan receive advanced standing inselected Professional Master of Education(pme) courses at Queen’s University.
