TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF ADMISSION
Basic condition of admission
The basic condition for the admission to the bachelor´s degree study programme (first degree) is the full completion of
secondary education or full secondary vocational education (Higher Education Act, n.131/2002 Coll.). In the case of a foreign
applicant or a student who has completed a secondary education abroad, the education is comparable with an education
completed by a school leaving examination in the Slovak Republic. Applicant who has completed secondary education
abroad will submit along with the application form or more precisely no later than the date of enrolment a document on
completion of secondary education recognized by a relevant institution in the Slovak Republic.
Other conditions of admission
1. No entrance exams
Applicants will be admitted to the study without entrance exams if they meet the legal conditions for bachelor's study (see
Basic condition for admission) and the number of applicants does not exceed planned ca pacity. If the applicant has
submitted all the required enclosures with the application form, the admission procedure takes place without the personal
participation of the applicants.
2. Selection procedure
If the number of applicants for study exceeds the planned capacity, applicants will be admitted on the basis of the selection
procedure, during which the study results achieved at completed secondary school will be assessed. From the applicants, a
ranking list will be drawn up according to the arithmetic mean of the marks at the year-end report for the penultimate year
of study.
Concerning admission, priority will be given to candidates who have completed NPS (SCIO) tests from general study
prerequisites or English language in the current school year and have reached at least 60 percent.
If the applicant has submitted all the required enclosures with the application form, the admission procedure takes place
without the personal participation of the applicants.
3. Written and oral command of Slovak language or Czech language is required for study at the Faculty. In the study
programme Teaching of the English Language and Literature and Citizenship Education, command of English language
within the range of secondary school curriculum at least at level B1 according to CEFR is required.

ADMISSION OF FOREIGN STUDENTS
The basic and other terms and conditions of admission are applicable as for the applicants from abroad as for the applicants
from Slovakia.
Foreign students who study in a foreign language (i.e. not Slovak), pay the tuition fee as stated in § 92 Subsection 8 (Higher
Education Act). The tuition fee is specified by the UNIZA directive for the respective academic year, which can be found on
the university website. Foreign students who study in the Slovak language do not have to pay the tuition fee. Applicants
from the Czech Republic who want to apply and study in Žilina can use the application form valid in the Czech Republic. For
foreign applicants who were accepted on the basis of intergovernmental agreements, bilateral agreements or Slovak
government grants, terms and conditions stated in respective documents are applicable
APPLICATION FORM
Application forms are to be submitted for individual study programmes.
In case the applicant is interested in more study programmes, it is necessary to apply for each one individually,
including payment of the respective admission procedure fees.
Applicants have to fill in the form Prihláška na vysokoškolské štúdium - 1. Stupeň or they can also use an electronic
application form that can be found on the university website: https://vzdelavanie.uniza.sk/prijimacky/index.php or on the
education portal: https:// prihlaskavs.sk/sk/. In the case of an electronic application, it is necessary to follow the instructions
given in the E-application form System.
In case of incomplete application form, applicants will be requested to complete it.
In the absence or a failure of entrance exams, the Faculty does not refund the admission fee.
If the applicant wants to take part in entrance exams at several faculties of UNIZA or faculty programmes, the application
forms must be submitted separately to each faculty and programme with payment of the relevant fee.
Enclosures for the bachelor´s degree study programmes (to be sent with application forms) :
• Curriculum Vitae,
• proof of payment of the admission fee,
• copies of the year-end reports from secondary school or more precisely confirmation of study results by secondary school in
the application form.
Upon completion of the school-leaving examination, applicants will send a certified copy of the school-leaving certificate and a
copy of the year-end report from the final year of secondary school study to date, which will be announced to each applicant in
writing.

ACCOMMODATION
All the students of the first year of the bachelor degree study are entitled to accommodation in accordance with the
internal regulations of the university. Student accommodation facilities cost approx.: € 41 € – € 51 per month.

Students can use services of catering facilities of the University of Žilina in Žilina. Price for food: 1,10 € – 2,40 €.
SCHOLARSHIPS
Students of all study programmes can obtain motivational scholarships (for excellent results or exceptional achievements)
in accordance with the stated criteria.
FOLLOW-UP STUDY AFTER COMPLETION OF BACHELOR’S DEGREE STUDY
There is a possibility for continuing bachelor´s degree study within follow-up master´s degree study programmes at the
Faculty of Humanities UNIZA in the academic year 2020/2021 – Mediamatics and Cultural Heritage, Social Pedagogy,
Teaching of the English Language and Literature and Citizenship Education, Teaching of Citiz enship Education (respective
information about particular study programmes is available at the university website). After completing the bachelor's
degree, it is necessary to verify the current state of the offer of study programmes in a particular academic year.

institutions, media, advertising agencies, information and cultural centres.
SOCIAL PEDAGOGY
(Field of study Teacher Training and Education Science)
Graduates of the field of study Teacher Training and Education Science, the study programme Pedagogy (1st degree) will
acquire a professional competence to work as social pedagogues, professional educators and leisure time pedagogues.
They are capable of carrying out professional activity as social pedagogues in social services. They are also employable in
the field of public social administration as state administration workers and self-government workers in the field of
childcare and youth, social pedagogues in state, private or non-governmental organizations with a focus on community
support of education and training. Furthermore, they can work as workers in in the field extracurricular education and out -
of-school education and as organizers of non-formal education.

The basic condition for admission to master's degree study (study programme of the second degree) is the full completion of the first degree of university study (Higher Education Act, no. 131/2002 Coll.) in the same or related field of study. In case of a foreign applicant or a student who has completed his / her study abroad, he / she shall submit along with the application form (no later than the date of enrolment) a decision on the recognition of the certificate of completion of the first degree of higher education recognized by a relevant institution in the Slovak Republic.

2. Admission Procedure If the number of applicants for study exceeds the planned capacity, applicants who are bachelor's degree graduates of the given field of study or are graduates of other higher education institutions of the same field of study will be admitted on the basis of the admission procedure during which the study results achieved during final state examination at the bachelor‘s degree will be assessed. The ranking of applicants will be drawn up on the basis of achieved study results at the final state examination*.If the applicant has submitted all the required enclosures with the application form, the admission procedure takes place without the personal participation of the applicants.Graduates of a related field of study will take an entrance examination (oral interview) to verify their ability to complete the second degree of study and to verify their knowledge of the given field of study and the study programme concerned.

SOCIAL PEDAGOGY(Field of study - Teaching and Pedagogical Sciences)Graduates are qualified for the position of social pedagogue in schools and school facilities of educational counselling and prevention. They can independently perform more demanding works for applied educational research, work in state administration and social services and are able to work as highly qualified professional educators, leisure time pedagogues and social pedagogues, as well as pedagogical advisers, researchers and managers. They are expected to become qualified managers in state administration institutions, social services, leisure time institutions and educational facilities for educational counselling and prevention. In accordance with the chosen specialization, they are able to deal with the issue of management in education, the issue of counselling in the field of educational and professional development of individuals, as well as counselling for teachers and parents. They are ready to deepen their professional qualities within a doctoral study programme or lifelong learning.
MEDIAMATICS AND CULTURAL HERITAGE(Field of study - Media and Communication Studies)Graduates have the ability to find modern and, if necessary, also their own solutions in the field of library and information practice. They are able to creatively apply knowledge especially in the field of library and information funds, local and global information resources. They master the work with information and communication technologies, methods and tools for creating and building information sources, analysing information needs, searching for information, analysing information sources and providing information and knowledge to users. They are able to work as content creators or managers of mediamatics information systems, consultants in the field of information systems, or e-learning course creators. In addition, they are able to work as managers of information and knowledge databases in business organisations. Aft er graduation, they can independently run a business in the sphere of mass media, provide information services for government, the third sector or work as specialists in the creation and presentation of information, economics and management of mediamatic systems.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF ADMISSION
Basic condition of admission
The basic condition for admission to doctoral degree study (study programme of the third degree) is the full completion of the second degree of university study (Higher Education Act, no. 131/2002 Coll.) in the same or related field of study. In case of a foreign applicant or a student who has completed his / her study abroad, he / she shall submit along with the application form (no later than the date of enrolment) a decision on the recognition of the certificate of completion of the second degree of higher education recognized by a relevant institution in the Slovak Republic or he / she shall ask UNIZA for the recognition of the certificate of education.
Other conditions of admission Selection procedure: admission procedure is carried out in the form of a selection procedure in order to ensure that the admitted applicants dispose of the necessary skills and abilities. Rules of selection procedure:• the applicant applies for a specific topic of dissertation thesis. Topics of dissertation theses will be published together with
the announcement of the admission procedure for doctoral study on the faculty notice and at www.fhv.uniza.sk at least 2 months before the deadline for submitting the application forms,
• the evaluation of the admission procedure and the proposal of the applicants for admission to the doctoral study in the relevant study programme will be carried out by a selection committee appointed by the dean of the faculty,
• the dean of the faculty makes the decision on the applicant´s admission within 30 days from the date of the entrance examination,
• only those applicants who successfully pass the entrance examination may be admitted.
General content of the entrance examination: • presentation of own project on the chosen topic of the dissertation thesis. • professional discussion in which the applicant must demonstrate the prerequisites for independent scientific and research
activities and good orientation in the chosen field of study.
Selection of candidates is based on the ranking based on:a) the results of the entrance examination (max. 40 points, the selection committee will decide on the amount of points
assigned), b) the results of the previous study (max. 30 points, allocated according to the WGA (weighted grade average) of the second
degree of university study according to the following schedule: WGA 1-1,25=30 points, WGA 1,26-1,99=20 points; WGA 2 and more = 0 points),
c) publishing and scientific activities (max. 30 points, the selection committee will decide on the amount of points assigned).

Accommodation facilities of the University of Žilina in Žilina off er accommodation according to accommodation capacity, taking into account the distance between the student's permanent residence and the seat of the University. Student accommodation facilities cost approx.: € 41 € – € 51 per month.

Students can use services of catering facilities of the University of Žilina in Žilina. Price for food: 1,10 € – 2,40 €.
SCHOLARSHIPS
Full time students of the doctoral degree study programmes are granted a scholarship pursuant to Higher Education Act, n. 131/2002 Coll. (On universities and on amendments to certain laws), §54 Subsection 18.

Graduates can work in research in the field of library and information science, as experts in memory and cultural institutions, as university teachers, etc., depending on the narrower specialization of their study and the topic of the dissertation thesis.
