    Study of Computer Engineering

#$ %e"cription of degree program" in Computer Engineering

In undergraduate program of Computer Engineering students will train for application of acquiredknowledge in solving specific problems of designing hardware and software products. This includes

the ability to clearly define the problem, determine the feasibility of its solution, and the study, specifying, designing, implementation, testing, transformation and documenting solution.Undergraduate program qualifies students for teamwork to solve problems and to communicate witheperts from other areas. It is especially important that they are able to permanently improve in thisarea that is developing very quickly and fits into new application areas. Undergraduate studies ofComputer Engineering were designed with the aim to provide students with education, especiallyrelying on Electronics as a primary computing technology. In addition to basic knowledge ofmathematics, physics and electrical engineering students of Computer Engineering also acquireknowledge from following areas! "lgorithms and data structures, discrete mathematics, analysis anddesign of digital systems, micro and micro programmable function blocks, the reali#ation of hardware$salgorithms, connecting computers to the outside world %&&&', different types of databases, man (machine interface, programming, software systems for computer aided design and other areas ofcomputer science. &hile inundergraduate studies of Computer Engineering, students are trained to

work in different areas of computer science and information technologies. Upon completion of theirstudies, students are trained to design, implement and maintain medium comple computer systemswhich include the integration of software and hardware solutions. Especially important role in thisstudy program is relation to the labor market as the first stage in the framework of a two(stageeducation in order to form a complete knowledgeable epert capable of solving the most complicatedengineering tasks. The need for professionals with these competencies is significantly higher than thenumber of educated professionals, both in the wider area, and in all )osnia and *er#egovina, andabroad. "fter graduation, with the acquired knowledge students can be employed in industry, computerand communication companies, education, and service activities, etc.

    &raduate "tudy of Computer Engineering

+raduate studies of Computer Engineering give students the necessary knowledge in the net fields!

design and development of software and hardware and systems based on a computer, interactionsbetween hardware and software, designing systems that support human interaction with computersystem, and computer system and eternal world, methods and procedures for the design of systemsthat contain a computer. The learning process has the scientific, mathematical and practicaldimensions, and integrates them in a separate study program. Understanding this integrationtranscends implementation details of the components and seeks recognition of predictable effects oncomple systems. This study program includes a combination of key skills and techniques of computerscience aimed at understanding the problem needed to solve comple software and software(hardware problems in the industry and all branches of human activity. In graduate study of ComputerEngineering students are trained to work in all branches of industrial activity that require ecellentknowledge of programming with understanding of computing, telecommunications, built(in and othersystems that contain computer. tudent is qualified to independently solve comple programmingproblems and to plan and design systems based on computer. tudent is also capable of operating in

the development and implementation of software products %industry, government - /ostar (Undergraduate and graduate study of Computer Engineering, institutions, banks', innovations incomputer technology, and new and effective solutions for computer problems %research anddevelopment departments in the industry, science, *igher Education'. There is almost no sector ofindustry where epert who finished a graduate study in computer engineering would not be able tosuccessfully work, so the needs of the labor market for this profile of professionals is very high. This isparticularly important at the present time, when social and economic changes require the developmentof new, small or medium(si#ed, high(technology enterprises, which will be the new backbone ofeconomic development.

'$ The goal of the "tudy of Computer Engineering

  • 7/24/2019 Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Computer Engineering Plan and program for several departments

    3/27

The goal of the study of Computer Engineering %undergraduate and graduate' is to educateprofessionals capable to adapt to the constant changes in the field of computing and all engineeringfields. Education includes providing the necessary basis in computing and engineering in general. Thegoal of the study is to develop the ability of designing the application and utili#ation of computerscience and information technologies, with particular emphasis on applications in the engineering.

    ($ %e"cription of the )rofe""ion

The goals of the opening study of Computer Engineering are best demonstrated through activitiespeculiarity of eperts in the field of Computer Engineering. Eperts in the field of ComputerEngineering must be active in the most advanced and most widespread fields of today$s technology(dependent world. The fact is, on the one hand that the needs of mankind for energy and materialgoods is growing, on the other hand it is increasingly difficult to meet the need for more rational use ofnatural resources and environmental protection. In such conditions, the activity of eperts in the field ofComputer Engineering is complicated and requires as qualitative education. "lso the fact that thetechnological systems of today, all sectors of the economy and social activity without eception, cannot be imagined without the aid of Computer Engineering. Technological solutions in these areasact immediately to improve the overall quality of life and the life of every individual. -rom futureprofessionals in the field of Computer Engineering, regardless of work field %research, development,

planning, production, use, sale, etc.' is epected!

0ermanent adoption of new knowledge and understanding, maintaining technological competence1 Connection with the areas of application, ability to adapt1 working enthusiasm and taking initiatives1 ense of professional responsibility %decision(making at all levels of responsibility and appreciationof humanistic, economic and legal rules'1 Communication skills, work in multidisciplinary groups.

Educational plan and program of undergraduate and graduate study programs is designed to enablestudents to acquire the basic knowledge necessary to meet the above epectations.
