Compoundsofdifferentmoleculesareoccurredthroughvariousphotochemicalreactions.Photochemistryisthebranchofchemistryconcernedwiththechemicaleffectsoflight.Generally,thistermisusedtodescribeachemicalreactioncausedbyabsorptionofultraviolet(wavelengthfrom100to400nm),visiblelight(400–750nm)orinfraredradiation(750–2500nm).
ColloidChemistry -CHEM426:This courseprovidesan introduction to the fundamental aspectsof colloidchemistryandcolloidaldispersions.Colloidaldispersionsarepresentinevery-daylife,fromfoodsystemstoceramics.Therefore,thecourseisrelevantforpeopleworkinginresearch,developmentandformulationofanycolloidalsystem,beitpaints,coatings,ceramics,foodorpharmaceuticalformulations.
Surface Chemistry and Catalysis - CHEM 323: This course deals mainly with an introduction to surfacechemistry and its applications. The course includes as well classifications of adsorptions and types ofadsorption isotherm. Topics covered also include catalysis and the types of catalysts, methods ofpreparations, properties and kinetics of homogeneous catalyst. At the end, this coursewill introduce thestudentsthenaturepropertiesofmaterialsanditscrystallattices, typesofsemiconductorsandmechanismofconduction.
GeneralChemistryII-CHEM142:Thiscoursedealsmainlywithanintroductiontogases,gaslaws,andkinetictheory of gases. The course includes types of solutions, ideal and non ideal solutions, chemical and ionicequilibrium. Topics covered also thermochemistry, energy changes in chemical reactions, acid-baseequilibrium,buffersolutionsaswell.Attheend,thiscoursewillintroducethestudentstothephaseruleandphaseequilibrium.
EnvironmentalChemistry -CHEM373:Thiscourseprovidesan introduction to the fundamentalaspectsofenvironmental chemistry and their related major ecosystem factors like photochemical, kinetic, andanalyticalandtransportaspectsofenvironmentalphenomena.Thetopicspresented inthiscourse include:introduction to environmental systems, energy sources. Air pollution and air pollutants, soli pollution andcomposition and phases of soil, water pollution, sources of water pollutants, and purification of water.Nearbytopics,suchasseawaterdesalination,arealsocoveredtosomedegreeinordertomakethecoursecompleteonastand-alonebasis.
ResearchMethods - CHEM 474: Dealswith the basic and fundamnetal steps on doing scientific research, wrtinigproposal, citation, andskillsofpresentation.
Corrosion-CHEM428:Corrosionmaybedefinedasadestructivephenomena,chemicalorelectrochemical,whichcanattackanymetaloralloythroughreactionbythesurroundingenvironmentandinextremecasesmaycausestructuralfailure.Corrosionoccursbecauseofthenaturaltendencyformostmetalstoreturntotheir natural state. The importance of corrosion studies is two folds. The first is economic, including thereductionofmateriallosses.Thesecondisconservation, appliedprimarilytometalresource
