Open to the public for ONE DAY only on Saturday, July 16, 2016 beginning at 8:00 a.m. with a pancake breakfast.

All QUILT ENTRY FORMS MUST be received by the Exhibit Secretary No later than midnight on Wednesday July 5, 2016.

QUILTS MUST be dropped off at the Springfield Curling Club on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. only!Judging for Quilting will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2016.

Quilts must remain on display until 4:30 p.m. Saturday, pick up between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 pm.

All other exhibits will be Judged on Friday, July 15, 2016.

Entry Forms for All Other Exhibits MUST be in to the Exhibit Secretary No later than midnight, Tuesday, July 12, 2016.

NO entry forms will be accepted on Friday, July 15, 2016.

Springfield Curling Club doors will be open for exhibitor drop offs between 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. on Thursday July 14, 2016

and 8 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. on Friday July 15, 2016.

All exhibits must remain on display until 5:00 p.m. Saturday, pick up between 5:00 p.m. and 7:30 pm.

Exhibitors over the age of 16 years must purchase a $5.00 membership before entering their exhibits.

Memberships can be purchased by contacting one of the directors found on page 17 of this booklet.

Please carefully read the General Rules and Regulations of the Springfield Country Fair found on pages 16 and 17 of this book.

The Springfield Agricultural Society congratulates Kathy Wilkinson and John Holland on their award

of Honourary Life Membership in the Manitoba Association of Agricultural Societies.

Sally It.is.with.great.sadness.that.the.family.announces.the.pass-ing.of.Sally.of.Glass,.on.Sunday,.February.7,.2016.at.the.age.of.68.years.Sally.was.born.and.raised.in.Glass,.and.lived.next.door.to.her.home.property..She.graduated.from.Springfield.Col-legiate.and.continued.working.at.many.different.jobs.over.the.years.while.raising.her.three.kids..She.was.a.school.bus.

driver.for.Transcona-Springfield.School.Division..Her.next.adventure.was.opening.the.Dugald.Chicken.Chef.and.finally.her.love.for.food.and.being.a.host.she.decided.to.continue.on.with.her.passion.to.catering.for.so.many.Anyone.that.knew.Sally.knew.she.lived.her.life.enjoying.every.moment.with.her.kids,.especially.with.the.grandkids..They.meant.the.world.to.her!.The.kids.always.enjoyed.the.many.outings.they.attended.and.how.she.could.play.for.endless.hours..She.had.a.warm.heart;.and.was.always.there.to.listen.She.would.also.spend.endless.hours.baking,.making.yummy.foods.and.organizing.fundraisers,.helping.with.so.many.events!.She.was.an.active.lady.with.the.Kinette’s,.director.on.many.boards.such.as.Anola.&.Dugald.Community.Club,.RM.Recreation.Committee,.Springfield.Ag.Society,.continuously.helping.out.at.the.Anola.School.and.truly.loved.being.part.of.the.Springfield.Public.Library.team.Sally.will.be.dearly.missed.by.everyone.that.she.has.touched,.and.she.will.never.be.forgotten!

All entrants into the contests must submit entries that were made using the sponsor’s product.

This contest is open to all legal residents of Canada of legal age (18 years) in accordance with the laws of the Province in which the contest is located, who own the sponsor’sproduct as of the contest start. If an entrant is under the legal age their submission must be made by a parent or legal guardian.

No entrant, nor any member of an entrant’s immediate family (father, mother, son, daughter, sister, brother, spouse) or household can be an employee of the contest sponsor(s), its/their advertising and promotional agencies and contest judges.

Robin Hood® “Family Favourite Recipe” and Robin Hood® “Family Best Lunchbox Snack” recipes must include the use of at least one Robin Hood® product.

Crisco® “Family Favourite Recipe” recipes must include the use of at least one Crisco® product.

All entries will be judged on appearance, texture, creativity of recipe and presentation, weighted equally. Decision of the fair judge(s) will be final.

No Proof of Purchase is required.

First and second place winners’ names and address must be submitted.

All first place winners must submit recipe, photograph and signed release form giving permission to the sponsors for use of the winner’s name, recipe and/or photograph in any other advertising or publicity without payment.

The fairs will send to C.F.B. the signed release forms, recipes and photo for the first place winners along with a list of the name and address for 2nd place winners where applicable. The fair is responsible for distribution of prizes to individual winners.

Product certificate gift prizes, banners, prize ribbons and other promotional giveaways will be sent two weeks prior to the start of the fair in our fair contest kit. National contest prizes will be sent directly to the winner.

2 cups (500 ml) white Kidney beans1 (250 ml) cup sugar1/2 (125 ml) cup milk1 egg 1/4 cup (60 ml) olive oil1 tsp. (15 ml) vanilla

1/2 cup (125 ml) flour1/3 cup (125 ml) cocoa powder1/3 cup (75 ml) ground flax1 tsp (5 ml) baking powder1/3 cup (75 ml) walnut or pecan pieces

Directions: 1. In food processor, puree beans very well. add in sugar, milk, egg, oil and vanilla and puree until smooth, scraping down sides a few times.(Alternatively, a blender could be used to puree beans, then continue in a mixing bowl.)2. Add flour, cocoa, ground flax, and baking powder to mixture in food processor bowl and blend well. Stir in nuts to combine. Scrape batter into greased 9 inch square baking pan, smoothing top. 3. Bake in 350 F (180 C) oven for about 30 minutes, or until cake tester comes out clean. Let cool on rack.

The contest is open to all residents of Canada, excluding residents of Quebec, who are first place winners of the designated baking contests at their local fair, with exception to employees of the sponsoring companies, their promotional agencies, advertising agencies, and other representatives or agents. Local fair winner will automatically be entered into the national contest for that specific contest category with the submission of signed declaration for and win-ning recipe from the local contests.

2. To be eligible entries signed declaration form and recipe (entries) must be received at the above address no later than November 3rd , 2016. Country Fair Baking, the sponsoring companies or their agencies will not be responsible for lost, destroyed or wrongly addressed envelopes.

3. Entrant will be selected in Aurora, Ontario on December 12, 2016 by an agent of the sponsoring company from all eligible entries received on or before November 3rd , 2016, the contest closing date. Only winners will be contacted.

4. The odds of winning depend upon the total number of entries received.

5. All prizes must be accepted as awarded with no substitutions.

6. By submitting an entry, which includes a signed release form, contestants agree to the use of their name and winning recipe for promotional purposes by the sponsor.

1. Competitionisopentoallquiltexhibitors.2. Thejudgingcriteriaareincludedinthe“JudgingStandards”FairBook.3. Quiltsmaybeenteredinthreecategories:

• handquilted• self-guided(domestic/midarm)–fabricismanipulatedbyhandunderthemachine• track(mid/longarm)–thisincludeswherethemachineridesonwheelsandmovesoverthefabricandishand

guided.Nocomputerprogrammedquiltingwillbeallowed. •Thequiltmustbecompletelydonebythepersonsubmittingthequilt. •Nocommercialquiltingwillbeallowed(machinequiltedbysomeoneotherthantheexhibitor).4. Quiltsmusthaveanappropriatetitleandgiveappropriatecredittopatterndesignerifnotoriginal.5. Quiltsmustbeclean;anywithstainsand/ormarkings;pethairwillnotbeaccepted6. SocietywhereitwasfirstenteredintheProvincialCompetitionandwon.TheexhibitormustadviseSocietiesatthetimeofentryiftheirquiltisawinneratapreviousfair.

14. IfanexhibitordoesnotwishtoparticipateintheProvincialCompetition,therunner-upquiltwithascorehigherthan70willbeselectedtorepresentthesocietyintheDistrictCompetition.

15. Atthedistrictlevelprizemonieswillbeawardedforthetopquiltsineachcategory.Attheprovincialfinals,therewillbeprizemoniesavailableintheHandQuilted,Self-GuidedandTrackCategories.
