2012 C OUNTY F AIR A SPECIAL SECTION OF THE DENISON BULLETIN AND DENISON REVIEW www.DBRnews.com | Friday, July 27, 2012 Section A Royalty Sievertsen, Ketelsen reign as 2012 Crawford County Fair Queen and King Royalty was crowned for the 2012 Crawford County Fair on Tuesday evening at the Deni- son High School Fine Arts Center. Lynsie Sievertsen, daughter of Jeff and Rhonda Sievertsen, of Manilla, was crowned queen. Ten years ago Sievert- sen was crowned as the Little Miss Princess for the 2002 Crawford County Fair. She said she looked up to the fair queen when she was Little Miss Princess and hoped to some day enter the fair queen contest and become a role model for this year’s Little Miss Princess candidates. Paige Saunders, the second runner-up in the queen con- test, was the 2001 Little Miss Princess. Nathan Ketelsen, son of Rick and Rhonda Ketelsen, of Denison, was named king. The 2012 Little Miss Princess is Arynn Outhouse, daughter of Les and Deb Out- house, of Defiance. Her brother, Alex Outhouse, was named the 2012 King of Clowns. His stage name is Farmer AL. Following are the runners- up and Miss Congeniality title winners in the queen and Lit- tle Miss Princess contests. Sievertsen, Ketelsen reign as2012 Crawford County Fair Queen and King

Royalty was crowned for the2012 Crawford County Fair onTuesday evening at the Deni-son High School Fine ArtsCenter.

Lynsie Sievertsen, daughterof Jeff and Rhonda Sievertsen,of Manilla, was crownedqueen. Ten years ago Sievert-sen was crowned as the LittleMiss Princess for the 2002Crawford County Fair. Shesaid she looked up to the fairqueen when she was LittleMiss Princess and hoped tosome day enter the fair queencontest and become a rolemodel for this year’s LittleMiss Princess candidates.

Paige Saunders, the secondrunner-up in the queen con-test, was the 2001 Little MissPrincess.

Nathan Ketelsen, son ofRick and Rhonda Ketelsen, ofDenison, was named king.

The 2012 Little MissPrincess is Arynn Outhouse,daughter of Les and Deb Out-house, of Defiance.

Her brother, Alex Outhouse,was named the 2012 King ofClowns. His stage name isFarmer AL.

Open Class Domestics

Record-breaking year for Open Class Domestics entriesThe open class domestics received considerably more

entries this year. In 2011, 151 people brought 523 entries.This year, 181 people brought 754 entries, an almost 50%increase in the number of entries.

Any Crawford County resident can bring entries to the an-nual fair, and 4-H members are also encouraged to bring initems that were not exhibited in the 4-H portion of thebuilding during the current year.

Fair books are usually distributed by May of each year.Items are usually entered on the Monday evening prior tothe first day fo the fair.

Open classyouth bucket/bottle calfand openclass youthlamb show

The open class youth buck-et/bottle calf and open classyouth lamb show took placeSunday in the show arena.

The show is open to youthfrom age three to children whohave just completed thirdgrade.

The goal of the show is toteach young children properanimal management skills andto get the youth interested inshowing animals at the Craw-ford County Fair.

Each contestant received a$10 gift certificate to Bom-gaars, a $10 gift certificate toWal-Mart, a light-up ball, arope halter and a trophy. Theprizes were sponsored by J&AFarms – Justin and AnnBromert, and by Blazin’ BRanch – Bob Boettger.

The top senior showman in the beef, swine, sheep, goat, poul-try, rabbit and horse shows competed in the All Around Show-manship Contest on Sunday afternoon, July 22, in the show ring.

Following are the results.First place: Sara Swafford, Denison FFASwafford received a plaque presented by Jan Henningsen in

memory of her late husband, Bob Henningsen, $50 from Jan Hen-ningsen and a belt buckle from the 4-H and Youth Council.

Second place: Anna Baughman, Charter Oak AchieversThird place: Kortney Brosamle, Good Handy HelpersFourth place: Dane Nemitz, Denison FFAFifth place: Paige Saunders, Aspinwall Achievers

Sixth place: Rebecca Sporrer, IKM-Manning FFAJudges were Kevin Koenig, poultry; Dr. Doyle Slavic, rabbit;

Caitlin Wessel, sheep; Barb Krajicek, horse; Susan Gruhn, cattle;Clint Von Glan, swine; and Kyle Wadsworth, goat.

Once a contestant has won the All Around Showmanship Con-test, he or she may not compete again in showmanship.
