Hadley Wood and Cockfosters is a very popular location for its’ cafes, restaurants, boutique shops, Trent Park, tennis, golf club and equestrian centre. Easy access to junction 24 of the M25, which is a road link to all major motorways including M1 and A1, which provides easy access to Heathrow, Stanstead and Luton airports. “I think what I have always loved about this house is the fact that it’s in London, but it doesn’t have the feeling of being in London,” says Andy. “It feels very rural and is extremely peaceful and tranquil because you haven’t got that hustle and bustle of the city, and yet with the infrastructure available we’re able to be in town in around twenty minutes. We have the tube just a few minutes walk away in Cockfosters, and the M25 is just a short drive away, so you can reach all points on the compass, but none of these things impact on the serenity of our location.”

“The house is extremely spacious,” continues Andy. “We have a lovely large living room with patio doors that lead out into the garden; a sizeable kitchen which is a very sociable space where we can cook, eat, chat and generally catch up with each other; and we’re also fortunate enough to have a super recreational area. The pool was already here we bought the house, but during our time here we have extended it quite considerably. We’ve added a bar, and indoor BBQ area and also a large dance floor. It’s a fabulous place for entertaining, in fact it’s a little bit like having our own private members club.”

“Another part of the property that I particularly love is the garden,” says Andy. “There really is nothing better than sitting out and enjoying the greenery and also the wildlife. We back onto the golf course, but in between there is a void of trees, which is a haven for various creatures. As the sun is coming down we take a glass of wine onto the terrace and just sit and enjoy out surroundings; it’s idyllic.”

“Central London is within very easy reach,” says Andy, “but if you don’t want to venture far, you really don’t have to because we have everything on the doorstep. We have all the major high street shops in nearby Cockfosters, as well as an abundance of very nice restaurants, and we also have a superb range of schools in the local area so children don’t have to be travelling for hours in the morning.”

“Everyone has flown the nest now, so we have reluctantly decided that the time has come to downsize,” concludes Andy, “and I think we’ll both be sad to leave. I for one will miss the sheer tranquillity and the great sense of space. It has been a really fabulous family home.”
