Faith University Class Offerings 2013‐2014 Faith Explored Room 224 Come see what makes Faith Baptist Fellowship tick. Check under our hood. Kick our tires. Ask your questions and get honest answers. Learn what we mean by “Cross‐Centered.” Hear about our “Five Loves and Five Commit‐ments.” Get a clearer understanding of baptism and church membership. Whether it’s your first Sunday here or your 200th Sunday, you are invited to explore Faith with us. Facilitated by Jayson Wittrup
(This class will be offered every three months.)
Over Coming the GrassHopper Complex Fellowship Hall Join the teaching team of Dennis Cromwell, Larry Odle and Daryl Runion in this study of Joshua authored by Erwin Lutzer. Most Christians believe that God is all‐powerful and that He can free us from slavery to sin and emotional distress. If that is true, then why do we so often live in inferiority and in fear of defeat? We can learn much from the life of Joshua about seeing the promises of God fulfilled. Joshua focused on God, not circumstances, and was not paralyzed by the fear of enemies who looked on him as a grasshopper.
Does God Exist? Room 209 Join the teaching team of David Vilhauer, Rich Oksol and Jeff Rupp as they facilitate this DVD study featuring Dr. Stephen Meyer. Can we prove the existence of God, or are we left to grapple in the dark and take blind leaps of faith about what we believe? Everyone asks these questions but can you defend your beliefs when peers and professors are challenging your worldview? If you are a parent of a high school or college student you might want to pay attention to this. It involves science and philosophy!
Essential Foundations of Biblical Faith Room 223 Join the teaching team of Jason Bosch, Dave Peterson and Dan Mortenson as we follow a more systematic approach to study the fundamental doctrines and theologies found in and drawn out of the holy Scripture. Ultimately, by the power of His Spirit, our goal will be to apply this knowledge of Truth to heart transformation, obedience, discipleship, and evangelism.
Colossians Room 225 Join the teaching team led by Ryan Decker as they explore this New Testament book focusing on the preeminence of Christ over all creation. A dangerous false teaching was threatening the church of Colossae, not unlike what is facing the church today. Paul’s defense of Christ and the gospel is as relevant today as it was then.
theNEXT (Young Adults) Room 226 A class for college‐age and single adults (18‐25 year olds). This group is open to those who want to join together
for some fellowship, interactive Bible study and prayer time. Facilitated by Mark Hecht
The current teaching teams will continue through the next nine months, however new subjects will be offered as these conclude.
Saturday Book Club The Summer Saturday Book Club will continue meeting the fourth Saturday of each month. We will alternate read‐ing a fiction author and a nonfiction topic month by month. The next meeting will be Saturday, September 28, at Mary Caldwell's home. We have chosen to read any book written by Lynn Austin, a woman who writes historical fiction with strong female Christian women as the main characters. Although the church library has only one of her books, they may be found at the public library. Join us for lively discussion and fellowship.
Women’s Bible Study The Fall Women's Bible Study will feature a new study written by Beth Moore entitled, James, Mercy Triumphs. This 8‐week study is available Tuesday nights from 6:30‐8:30 PM beginning September 17 and Thursday mornings from 9:00‐11:00 AM beginning September 19. Childcare will be provided at both sessions. This promises to be an exciting opportunity to learn more about how to live out our faith in our everyday lives.
Tuesday evening facilitated by Evonne Vilhauer Thursday morning facilitated by Sharon Charey
