Greeting Sisters and
Brothers of Faith
Well the warmer weather has finally arrived and people are moving around. We have now had a couple of outdoor services, which have been very inspirational. Just love sitting outside our beautiful church and listening to the word of God .Pastor Don and Pastor Manny had to fight through a rough start, mic not working properly, wind blowing, but overall great job. Ernie Haller continuing to put the service out on You Tube and on Facebook for the Congregation to view. And of course I can’t forget Linda Eberhart sharing her musical expertise. We made the front page of the Whitehall -Coplay Press, pictures of our Sunday service. Please come out and join us. The Church Council has met with a candidate to fill our need for a Pastor. Church Council voted to move forward with the call process and present Vicar Tom Busteed to the congregation. He will preaching a sermon in late July. When final plans are worked out, the congregation will be informed. Please make plans to attend church to hear Vicar Tom. Due to the uncertainty of the COVID 19 pandemic the Faith Lutheran Church Night at the IronPigs has been cancelled. Also cancelled is the Over 80’s party, we do not want to expose our elders to any chance of the virus. Happy Birthday to all our over 80’s. We will see you next year. Future events will be discussed at a later time. We are finally opening up the church slowly. Tara Miller started Zumba classes outside in lower parking lot. Petite Scholars is back in Parker Hall. With social distancing in place, meetings have started. We will not open up the total church until the congregation is back into church. Thank you for sending your envelopes in to the church, we still have bills to pay. As you all know the virus does not stop your bills. The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. Palms 37:23
God Bless,

Call Committee Update
On May 27th, the Call Committee held a Zoom interview with a candidate recommended by Bishop
Zeiser. The candidate is Vicar Tom Busteed, who has been serving as the full time Vicar at St.
Matthias Evangelical Lutheran Church in Carlisle, PA. for the past 18 months. Vicar Tom has a range
of work related experiences in churches, has an undergraduate degree in music, is an organist, and
has a Master's Degree of Divinity from Lancaster Seminary, and a Master's Degree in Liturgical
Studies from Yale University.
After our interview, the Call Committee met and reviewed Vicar Tom’s qualifications, responses to our
questions, our personal impressions, his scores from our interview scoring guide, references, and the
gifts and talents he would bring to Faith Church. The Call Committee unanimously agreed that Vicar
Tom would be a match for the needs of our congregation and recommended that the Church Council
should meet and interview the candidate.
At a special June 15th Council Meeting, the Call Committee met privately with the Church Council and
shared their thoughts and feedback from the interview. At that point, the candidate joined the
meeting, was introduced to the Church Council, shared his background, and was interviewed by the
Council. The meeting ended with a closed session where the Church Council voted and approved that
Vicar Tom Busteed should be brought before the congregation, lead us in worship, and be
consideration as our next pastor.
On July 26th, the congregation will have the opportunity to meet Vicar Tom, hear him preach as he
leads us in worship, and then vote on him becoming the new pastor of Faith Evangelical Lutheran
Church. This voting process will be coordinated by members of the Synod staff, with the candidate
requiring a two thirds majority to be recognized as our new pastor.
If possible the worship service on July 26th will be held in the Sanctuary with special safety
precautions in place, including the need for several services during the morning, assigned seats for
social distancing, face masks, no singing, and other precautions. You will be receiving several notices,
updates, and special instructions over the next month about this service. Also, more information
about the candidate’s background, education, and related work experiences will be sent to you in the
next few weeks as part of his introduction to Faith.
Call Committee update continued:
In the meantime, please mark your calendar for this special worship service and vote
on Sunday, July 26th. Please share the date with family members and friends who are
members of the congregation. You must be present to vote on that Sunday.
Thank you for your prayers and support over the past year – we realize that this is an important
decision for the future of our church.
“ Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

Pastor Manny & Pastor Don:
I just wanted to send a thank you to everyone for
everything that they are doing at Faith to keep the
church going. Everything is appreciated. It really is.
This weekend was supposed to a celebratory one for
our family. Max’s confirmation. As my red
geraniums were so kindly brought to me to this
morning. I couldn’t help but be sad. As I planted
them in the garden with tears falling down my face.
My heart hurts. I know we will celebrate... just
not today. My family’s faith means a great deal to
me. There are good days and bad days. The daily
meditations & Sunday services mean more then you know. I watched other church services... they
weren’t the same. It wasn’t my church family. I just
wanted to say thank you.
Much love and health to all!
Karen Euculano & family
Many, many thanks to our wonderful
church family; for your cards, prayers
and offers of help at the loss of our
dear granddaughter. Your love and
support is greatly appreciated. We
also want to thank Pastor Don and
Pastor Manny for the visit and calls.
Our church family is so very dear to
us. Love,
Fred & Pat Walschburger
Due to Covid 19 the "Over 80's" birthday
party has been cancelled this year.
Treasure the present
Patience asks us to live the moment to the fullest … to taste the here and now, to be where we are. When we are impatient, we try to get away from where we are. We behave as if the real thing will happen tomorrow, later, and somewhere else. Let's be patient and trust that the treasure we look for is hidden in the ground on which we stand. —Henri Nouwen
