Have everyone bring their scriptures and divide into two teams. Have the teams look up a scripture. The team that have all their scriptures opened to the correct page get a point. Talk about the scripture and how it relates to faith, etc. The team that wins the point gets to choose a challenge.

Have paper bags with a title - giving a slight hint to what the challenge might be. The teams played the challenge and whoever wins the challenge gets a point. It is a great way to use the scriptures but still have fun.

• The nutrient of faith has to be replenished (3)

• Our most important spiritual nutrient is a testimony that God is our Eternal Father, that Jesus is our Savior and Redeemer, and that the Holy Ghost is our Comforter. This testimony is confirmed to us by the gift of the Holy Ghost. From this testimony we derive the spiritual nutrients of faith and trust in God, which bring forth the blessings of heaven. (3)

• When we choose to follow Christ in faith rather than choosing another path out of fear, we are blessed with a consequence that is consistent with our choice.(1)

• Increased faith is what we most need. Without it, the work would stagnate. With it, no one can stop its progress. (2)

• “Wherefore, be of good cheer, and do not fear, for I the Lord am with you, and will stand by you; and ye shall bear record of me, even Jesus Christ, that I am the Son of the living God, that I was, that I am, and that I am to come.”

2 Timothy 1:7: • “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind”

• The Apostle Paul references the faith of Timothy’s grandmother Lois and his mother,

Doctrine and Covenants 6:34-36 • “Therefore, fear not, little aflock; do good; let earth and hell combine against you, for if ye are bbuilt upon my rock, they cannot prevail.

• Behold, I do not condemn you; go your ways and asin no more; perform with soberness the work which I have commanded you.

• There is no other name under heaven whereby man can be saved (see Acts 4:12). We must take upon us His name and receive His image in our countenance so that when He comes we will be more like Him (see 1 John 3:2; Alma 5:14). When we choose to follow Christ in faith rather than choosing another path out of fear, we are blessed with a consequence that is consistent with our choice (see D&C 6:34–36).

Alma 37:33 • To his son Helaman, Alma declared, “Preach unto them repentance, and faith on the Lord Jesus Christ; teach them to humble themselves and

to be meek and lowly in heart; teach them to withstand every temptation of the devil, with their faith on the Lord Jesus Christ”

1 Timothy 4:6 • “If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and

• A nutrient furnishes nourishment that promotes growth and healing both in animals and humans. Grandfather’s cattle craved the nutrients in the rock salt, but human beings need something more. They need to be replenished spiritually because “life is more than meat”1 and “there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding.”2 The human spirit needs love. It also needs to be “nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine.”3

Ether 12:4 • Wherefore, whoso believeth in God might with asurety bhope for a better world, yea, even a place at the right hand of God, which chope

cometh of dfaith, maketh an eanchor to the souls of men, which would make them sure and steadfast, always abounding in fgood works, being led to gglorify God.

• Hope is the anchor of our souls. I know of no one who is not in need of hope—young or old, strong or weak, rich or poor. As the prophet Ether exhorted, “Wherefore, whoso believeth in God might with surety hope for a better world, yea, even a place at the right hand of God, which hope cometh of faith, maketh an anchor to the souls of men, which would make them sure and steadfast, always abounding in good works, being led to glorify God.” 3

Alma 22:16 • But Aaron said unto him: If thou desirest this thing, if thou wilt abow down before God, yea, if thou wilt repent of all thy sins, and will bow

down before God, and call on his name in faith, believing that ye shall receive, then shalt thou receive the bhope which thou desirest.

• Samuel Smiles wrote: “ ‘Hope is like the sun, which, as we journey towards it, casts the shadow of our burden behind us.’ … Hope sweetens the memory of experiences well loved. It tempers our troubles to our growth and our strength. It befriends us in dark hours, excites us in bright ones. It lends promise to the future and purpose to the past. It turns discouragement to determination.”

seconds using a fishing pole, the one with the most wins)

Drop Zone - (2 girls from each team, one stands on chair while the other lays on the floor, the

one standing drops popped popcorn or goldfish into the other ones mouth - the one laying down

could use a cup, first one to get 3 into the mouth or cup wins)

Slime Ball - (team effort - give every one a grape, the first team to have all their grapes

skinned wins)

Breathtaking - (2 girls from each team - each team is at the end of a table and each has a

straw, drop a cotton ball in the middle of the table the first one to blow the cotton ball off the

other end of the table wins)

Creepy Crawly - (team effort - everyone has a cup and chopsticks, the girl at the first of the

line has a bowl of gummy worms, she used her chopsticks to pick up one gummy worm at a

time and places it in the cup next to her, each girl uses her chopsticks to pass the worm to the

next cup, the one with all the gummy worms to the last cup wins)

Ice Melt - (the first team to melt an ice cube holding in their hands wins)

Sour Lips - 3 lemon halves have to suck juice out and spit it in the con-

tainer. The one with the most juice in 30 seconds wins.

Bounce - can be played with a tennis ball. Place a waste basket on a chair

some distance from the wall. Mark a line about six feet back from the chair on

which the player stands. The game is to bounce the ball on the floor so that it goes into the bas-

ket. Each one has tree trials, as this is not as easy to do as it seems. A point is given for every

basket made.

Change - get a can of gummy worms and put loose change in with them. Whomever gets

the change out of the jar with chop sticks the fastest wins.
