General Program Information• Current membership required to participate

in all programs during the Fall, Winter & Spring. Please renew your membership prior to registration.

• When you are on a waitlist and are notified that a spot has become available for you, you have 48 hours to respond to us. After that time the next person on the waitlist will be offered the spot. Please provide us with your email address to notify you when a spot becomes available.

• Programs will be cancelled, if necessary, due to insufficient registration, one week prior to the first class.

• Please do not enter rooms until 5 minutes prior to the start of your program and vacate no later than 5 minutes after the end of your program. Time and space are required for set up and take down.

• If you are able, please help your fellow members by parking at the top of the hill. This leaves the main parking lot available for those who are not able to walk long distances.

• As a courtesy to members with allergies, it is requested that you refrain from using perfume, cologne or other scented products.

How to Register for ProgramsRegistration for Seniors’ Programs, Spring 2015 starts Saturday, Feb. 28 at 9 a.m.

RecExpress – OnlineTo register online, please follow these steps:Go to www.burlington.ca/recexpress. Select the ‘Programs’ tab and find your desired program using the TTR search or by clicking “Recreation Programs” on the left then selecting “Adult/Senior”. Select ‘Add’ from the program you wish to register for. You will be prompted to enter your Client ID & Family PIN*. Assign the correct family member to the program using the drop down menu. If you have selected all programs you wish to register for, proceed to checkout. Payment for program registration can be made by Visa, Mastercard, American Express or by using a credit on your Parks & Recreation Account. You can choose to email or print your receipt .Once programs have started RecExpress cannot be used for registration.

RecExpress – Touch Tone PhoneDial 905-335-3131, an automated voice will guide you step by step through the registration process. You will need your, Client ID & Family PIN*, Program TTR (Touch Tone Registration) number for each program you would like to register for, and credit card number with expiry date or money on your Parks & Recreation account. You will receive program confirmation immediately once registered. Please note that once programs have started RecExpress cannot be used for registration.

In PersonRegistrations are accepted at the Seniors’ Centre, Tansley Woods, Brant Hills, Haber and City Hall as of 9 a.m. on registration day. Numbers begin being handed out at 7:30 a.m. at the Burlington Seniors’ Center. Payment can be made by cash, cheque, debit or credit card. After registration day, members can register at the Burlington Seniors’ Centre Front Desk, Mon-Fri during office hours.

FaxComplete your Registration form along with payment information and fax it in to the Burlington Seniors’ Centre at 905-634-8338 or to Parks & Recreation at 905-335-7837. Registrations received by fax will be processed within two (2) business days of receipt after registration start day

The Centre Piece Magazine Interested in advertising in the next issue? This magazine is distributed to 3,000 members on a quarterly basis and is a great way to reach out to older adults in our community. Email [email protected] for information on fees and deadlines.

Interested in Volunteering?Volunteering is a great way to make new friends, learn new skills and have fun! There are many volunteer opportunities available. To find one that’s right for you, fill out a volunteer application form, available at the front desk of the Burlington Seniors’ Centre. “Friends of the Centre”The Burlington Seniors’ Centre Board of Directors offers an “In Memoriam” program - a lasting way for friends and family members to remember loved ones by helping other seniors. All local funeral homes have agreed to promote this endeavor and tax receipts for $25 donations or over will be issued. In Memoriam cards are also available at the Burlington Seniors’ Centre.

and fresh baked goods are available

• Bistro Café open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

• lunch is served Monday to Friday between 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Seniors Keeping ConnectedThis specialized program is designed to provide support to seniors requiring help to stay involved in the community. We can provide transportation to the Burlington Seniors’ Centre, lunch at the Bistro and participation in one of the many programs at the Centre. Subject matter will include flowers, landscapes, and still life. PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENTSENIORS’ RELEASE FORM

In consideration of permission to use the property, facilities, staff, equipment and services of the Corporation of the City of Burlington, I, on behalf of myself, my heirs, personal representatives, or assigns, or as the legal guardian of the minor registrant, do hereby release, indemnify and save harmless, waive, and forever discharge the City of Burlington, its directors, officers, employees, volunteers and agents from liability from any and all claims resulting in personal injury, accidents or illnesses (including death) and property loss arising from, but not limited to, participation in activities, classes, observation, and use of facilities, premises, or equipment. I further authorize the City of Burlington to obtain any medical care deemed necessary in the event of an injury and agree to pay for any resulting medical expenses.

REFUND PROCEDURE• Fill out and submit a ‘Transfer/Withdrawal’ form.• Refunds will be either a credit on your Parks & Recreation Account or a cheque issued

within approximately 15 business days.• Refunds for payments made by credit card will be credited back to the appropriate credit

card.

REFUND POLICY• Full refunds will be issued after the 1st class.• Refunds will be prorated after commencement of the 2nd class.• Refunds will be prorated to the date of the request and not on the date of last class

attended.• No refunds will be provided after the end of the 3rd class unless a doctor’s note is provided

and this must be done within two weeks of the last date of the program.• Refunds will not be issued for one day programs such as, but not limited to, workshops,

movie programs and Breakfast at the Bistro.• DAYTRIPPERS REFUNDS: If you have signed up for a trip and you decide to cancel,

refunds will be issued only if another person can fill your spot. Please let staff know as soon as possible; if there is a waitlist, staff will work with you to try to sell your spot. If there is no waitlist then you will need to sell your spot to another person. Please note that you must advise the office immediately if you get someone to take your spot. This will ensure that the name of the person who is going on the trip is on the attendance sheet and our records are accurate. There will be NO REFUND if the spot is not filled.
