Be a Truth Sleuth! This year on Wednesday nights, CBC Kids will become
detectives! Join us on our quest for God’s Truth, and ways we can live it out in our
lives with projects, trips, and activities! Little Sleuths are going into kindergarten this
year or next year, and bigger sleuths will be in 1st – 4th grade. Come join the fun
starting Wednesday, August 21 from 6:15 – 7:30!
During the fall, the basis of our Youth Group (grades 7—12) will be a video series by
Dr. Sean McDowell in which he shares quick answers to common questions about God.
Further discussion and Bible study will dig deeper into his answers.
Wednesday night dinners will also be returning! Dinner for the family will begin at
5:30 pm. Cost is $5 per person or a max of $20 per family. The meals will be prepared
and served by the youth. All money earned from these dinners will go towards helping
the youth pay for camps and trips throughout the year.
During the Quarterly Update Meeting on July 28, Pastor Eric
Goforth made his recommendation on how to fill the recently
vacated staff position. The recommendation is for Nick
Walker to come on staff in a part time position as the
Assistant Pastor for Youth Ministry and for Pastor Larry
Jimenez to move to a full time position by placing him in
charge of all discipleship ministries in addition to being the
Spanish Language Pastor. This recommendation will be presented to the congregation
on Sunday August 4; a Called Membership Meeting will take place on Sunday,
August 18 after each service to vote on it. Please make plans to attend so that your
voice can be heard in this important decision.

It’s moving up time! Sunday, August 11 , kids and
teens will move up to their new Sunday School
classes! If your student is going into 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, or
9th grade they will have a new classroom. New 1st and
3rd graders go to your old classroom to start off, and
you will be invited and brought to your new room by
your classmates. Pre-teens and teens going into 5th, 7th,
and 9th grade should go straight to your new
classroom. All kids and teens classes get to enjoy a
special Promotion Day snack!
The church offices will be closed on

If you are interested in becoming a member of Chancellor Baptist,
please make plans to join us for Next Steps. The next classes will
be held September 8 at 9 am and September 15 at 10:30 am. This
class satisfies the church information class required to become a
member. The same information is presented in each class, so you
only need to attend one.
Our Fall session of Connect Groups
will begin the week of September 8.
During the Fall, we will be doing an
in depth look at the church in the
book of Ephesians.
Connect Groups meet throughout
the week at different locations. Sign
up sheets will be available
beginning the week of August 18.
Do you know someone that is new to Chancellor Baptist
Church or would like more information about the
church? Have them join us August 25 in Room 202
after the 10:30 am worship service! They will learn
about the church, meet the Pastors and enjoy a snack!

I would like to thank everyone for celebrating my 25th Anniversary as Associate Pastor for Worship at Chancellor Baptist. Nancy and her team did a wonderful job organizing this event. The desserts and the kind words were more than I could imagine. Thank you for the gifts and for making it a special day.

At the Quarterly Update Meeting on
Sunday, July 28, the congregation was
given the chance to review the master
plan for potential renovations. This plan
was designed by Huff Morris Architects
based on the surveys that went out to
members earlier this year.
If you missed the meeting but are
interested in viewing the plan that was
presented, or you were there and just
want to see it again, you can do so by
going to https://bit.ly/2k2Ax7j
Note: the 5th slide is an animated look at
the renovated parts of the building. To
view animation, download a copy of the
Power Point, view as a slideshow and

Attention Youth! We will be joining Salem Baptist
Church’s youth group for Winter Retreat again this year!
It will be held at Great Wolf Lodge
January 24—26.
Sign up sheets will go out the beginning of September so
keep your eyes open for details!
Mark your calendars! Our annual
Heritage Day will be Sunday,
September 22. This is the day in
which we celebrate the different
nationalities represented in our
church. We will have a joint
worship service with all three
congregations (in English and
Spanish) and, after the service, you
will get the chance to taste
traditional cuisine from different
countries! We hope you’ll make
plans to join us as we celebrate
both the diversity and oneness in
our church!
