Welcome back after summer break, and a very warm welcome to all the new families that have joined us in Willmar. I hope you all are relaxed, recharged and ready to start a new season of recreation activities and programs. There has been many changes made this summer and we are excited to share them with you. The Civic Center had a new refrigeration system installed, as well as new bleachers and paint. We are looking forward to the upcoming hockey season in our new and improved rink. Miller Park and Voss Park were also updated with some new playground equipment. If you haven’t checked it out yet, do so before the snow comes! Youth Recreation will be adding a 7v7 Little Cardinal Football to their schedule this fall, as well as Sports Sampler, Indoor Soccer, Youth Wrestling and much more. We had a very successful season of summer programs and are looking forward to the energy and excitement continuing into the fall season. Adult sports will be adding adaptive floor hockey to their agenda as well as basketball and volleyball. Disc golf, a new program offered, was a great success, along with co-ed, men’s and church league softball. Don’t forget to register your teams for this year’s volleyball and basketball leagues. Lastly, there will be six new individual pickle ball courts at Sperry Park to open in September and the Gun Range will be open this fall in the basement of the City Auditorium starting November 19th. If you haven’t had the chance to try out the Bike Share Program, it isn’t too late. Download the Koloni App on your mobile device and try it out. Thank you for being a part of this community and for keeping recreation a priority in your lives. We appreciate your participation and efforts to keep our programs running and successful.
