MESSAGE FROM THE SECRETARYFall is in the air, football is in full swing and the holidays are upon us. This is traditionally a fun, exciting and very busy time at the Florida Lottery – and this year is no different. We are midway through two very popular football-themed Terminal game promotions and ready to launch new and exciting games sure to expand our reach and increase your sales.

I am most excited to introduce our players to MONOPOLY MILLIONAIRES’ CLUB™. This new multi-state Terminal game combines the popularity of the Monopoly brand with what our players have been asking for – more millionaires! This one-of-a-kind game will have your customers excited to make their initial purchase and keep them coming back to collect properties for their chance to be on the television game show.

Additionally, this year’s holiday-themed games are colorful and promote the magic of the season, enticing regular players and new players alike. Remind your customers that Scratch-Offs make fabulous gifts, stocking stuffers or tags for their holiday gifts. With price points ranging from $1 to $10, there’s something for everyone.

This time of year often reminds us that we have so much to be thankful for, and I appreciate all the work you put into making the Florida Lottery a success. I am thankful that our partnership helps the economy flourish and creates opportunities for students and schools in our state to succeed. Enjoy the holiday season and keep up the good work!

If you are considering changes in business structure, corporate officers, directors or ownership of your business, please contact your sales representative, district office or the Retailer Contracting Office to learn how to minimize disruptions in Lottery ticket sales and protect your financial interest during the transition.

Pursuant to Lottery Rule 53ER05-12, the Lottery requires the filing and approval of a new application for any form of business ownership change. For instance, if a sole proprietor incorporates, or if a corporation converts to a limited liability company, a new retailer application is submitted along with a non-refundable $100 processing fee for the first location and $25 for each additional location. Similarly, retailers that are corporations must notify the Lottery of any change in officers, directors or transfers of 10% or more of corporate stock. In this case, the retailer should complete a new application and include a $25 non-refundable background investigation fee per new officer, director or shareholder.

Please contact your sales representative to settle your existing inventory prior to the change of ownership. This protects you financially and allows for a smooth transition between old and new business owners and structures. Unsold full and partially-sold books are picked up and the remaining books which were issued to you are settled. The following Monday, you should call 1-800-226-3344, Option 2, to obtain the final settlement amount under the old business structure. The amount must be deposited in your bank account by 2:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday.

MESSAGE FROM FINANCEChanges In Business Ownership

By keeping the Lottery up to date with changes in your business, you will help to ensure minimum to no interruption in your ability to sell lottery tickets, and this means more ticket sales, happy customers and more dollars for education!

INDEPENDENT SPOTLIGHT Food N Fill is a three-store chain with locations in the Tallahassee and Crawfordville areas. A Florida Lottery retailer since 2010, Mr. Paresh “Paul” Gawde opened his first store in Tallahassee, followed by one additional store in Tallahassee and one in Crawfordville, Florida.

Food N Fill has always been a strong Lottery supporter. When the Florida Lottery celebrated its 25th anniversary, Food N Fill stores participated in the Lottery’s Logo Cup Promotion which gave consumers a chance to win a free drink in a Lottery cup with the purchase of a Scratch-Off ticket. The promotion also gave participating retailers a chance to win $10,000, which was won by one of the Food N Fill stores!

Food N Fill has also invited the Florida Lottery to be a joint participant in several Pepsi radio remotes held at their stores. The success of the radio remotes led to Pepsi inviting the Florida Lottery to participate in more than 40 events in the Tallahassee area this summer.

Florida Lottery District Manager Randy Fox sums up the relationship best when he says, “Mr. Gawde and his staff treat all customers with fairness and courtesy. His employees all

place a special emphasis on winner awareness to keep his Florida Lottery players happy and coming back for more winning experiences, while helping generate revenue for Florida students.”

We are appreciative of our independent retailers, like Food N Fill, and look forward to growing our partnerships with small businesses in the future.

CORPORATE SPOTLIGHT Land O’Sun Management CorporationLand O’Sun Management Corporation, of north Florida, operating as Fast Track, has been a Lottery retailer since 1994, and has been involved in many Florida Lottery promotions and incentives under the direction of Stephen Fogg, Vice President of Land O’Sun Management Corporation. The 19-store chain is based in Gainesville and has locations in both the Tallahassee and Gainesville markets.

Fast Track recently started using the Lottery’s auto order program in all of its stores, which has been beneficial in minimizing out of stocks, assisting store staff with scratch ticket inventory levels, and has helped produce a 5.8 percent increase in Scratch-Off sales this fiscal year. Fast Track also promotes a uniform Scratch-Off inventory in all of their locations by

following the Lottery’s recommended plan-o-gram of best selling tickets. Since 2001, Fast Track’s annual sales per store have increased more than 216 percent, which has helped the Florida Lottery transfer $21 million to education.

Land O’Sun Management Corporation has been a valued partner of Lottery’s for more than 20 years.

The Holidays will soon be here and as a retailer you know the holiday season can be your busiest and most profitable time. The Florida Lottery wants to help make your sales for the months from October to December even more successful with our new holiday-themed Scratch-Off collection.

Holiday Scratch-Off games bring some unique product features we’ve discussed before but are worth repeating. For example:

• Holiday-themed Scratch-Off games are priced to fit everyone’s budget with price points ranging from $1 to $10.

• Consumers who rarely purchase Lottery products during the year purchase holiday-themed Scratch-Off tickets as gifts or as last minute stocking stuffers.

• In addition to their colorful holiday appearance and attractive prize potential, holiday-themed Scratch-Off tickets require no batteries, refrigeration or assembly.

However, like all seasonal products, the window of opportunity is a short one. As retailers, you know if you don’t get holiday products to the shelf or if you don’t order enough product, you will never maximize your profit potential. In that respect, holiday Scratch-Off tickets are like any other product.

Here are some ways to maximize holiday Scratch-Off sales and profits this season:

• Activate your holiday Scratch-Off tickets as soon as you receive them.

• Follow the Scratch-Off Plan-o-gram created by the Lottery. It is intended to highlight the holiday-themed games by “blocking” them together for easy consumer recognition and purchase.

• Keep your inventory pipeline filled all year but especially during the holidays. Seasonal demand for holiday-themed Scratch-Off games increases in November and December, peaking around the third week of December.

• Avoid costly out of stocks by keeping back stock on fast movers or calling the Scratch-Off hotline at 1-800-897-4744 when you start to run low on inventory, especially going into weekends when sales spike. Orders placed before 5:00 p.m. ET Monday through Thursday will receive shipments the next day.

By following the four simple steps listed above, you will not only meet the consumer holiday demand, but you'll also meet your sales and profit goals to end the year on a high note.

Good Selling and Happy Holidays from the Florida Lottery

You’re in luck, because every sale or validation transaction at your terminal is captured and can be retrieved via your terminal Transaction History Report.
