We want every student to trust in Jesus in a way that transforms how they love God, themselves, and the world around them. We want them to make wiser decision, build stronger relationships, and develop a deeper faith. Through weekly small groups, worship, teaching, and games our
FUSE youth ministry is anchoring students to the Gospel of Jesus through the power of community and connection.

Middle School FUSE Grades 6-8 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
High School FUSE Grades 9-12 7:45 p.m. - 8:45 p.m.
Confirmation - Confirmation is both a road toward membership in The United Methodist Church, and an opportunity for youth to enrich and enhance their faith. All students in 8th grade and above, along with their parents, are invited to attend an informational meeting about confirmation Sunday, Sept 15th at 11:00 am in the FUSE Room.

The local UMW circles and groups support local agencies such as Warren Co. Necessity Pantry, Young Parents, Helping Hand and Bidwell Riverside through gifts of supplies and funds. Elizabeth Circle meets on the third Wednesday/mo @ 1 p.m. in the FUSE Room (Jan/Feb/March) and @ 7 p.m. in members’ homes in remaining months Hannah Circle meets on the fourth Monday/mo @ 7 p.m. in the FUSE Room. Rachel Circle meets every other month @ 11:00 a.m. at The Village-Heritage Room. Ruth Circle meets on the third Thursday/mo @3:00 p.m. in the FUSE Room. Sarah Circle meets on the fourth Wednesday/mo @ 9:30 a.m. in the FUSE Room. Circles will resume meeting in September. Check the UMW bulletin board for details. Half Truths, Bad Theology and God’s Grace I’m getting very excited for the sermon series that Pastor Brian and I are leading called “Half-truths” because I see a lot of theology that floats around Christianity that harms people. Much of the time that harm is unintentional. But poor understandings about how God works in the world also keeps us from understanding God. Maybe one of the most pernicious theological ideas is that things are just predestined to happen. Someone dies and someone says, “Well, it was just their time.” Or, a horrible tragedy happens and someone says, “It is all part of God’s plan.” Such assertions convince people that God is really mean or uncaring. Why would God cause a loved one to die “because it is their time?” Why would God plan any future in which people are harmed? Sometimes we say these kinds of things because we want to be comforted by an idea that God is in control of everything. But, if we really do believe in free will, God doesn’t control your actions or mine. If God did, God would be responsible for all the evils that plague the world. John Wesley argued strongly against the theologies that create the idea of predestination or a prede-termined history, because he believed strongly in what the Bible says about God’s love. The real gospel tells us that God knows we go through tough times, but God is with us supporting us and caring for us. God does not harm us ever. Team of the Month : Missions Over the next several months we will be featuring articles about the various “teams” in our church—committees, groups, and everything in-between. This is a great way to get
to know the who and the how of your church! The Missions Committee is the group that is responsible to the Administrative Council to organize
and coordinate all mission activities and projects in which the congregation engages beyond our
local community. As this committee offers mission activities (both on-going and seasonal
opportunities), they offer the opportunity for us all to live out our faith in service with and for our
community—and far beyond.
The work of the committee is central to our mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the
transformation of the world. Mission projects give the members of the congregation opportunities
to use their gifts to help others – to be the hands and feet of Jesus in the world. By being the hands
and feet of Jesus, we allow others to see Jesus alive and engaged in their lives.
The main mission activities and/or partners of our congregation include: Wesley Woods, The
Helping Hand, Bidwell Riverside, Open Table, and the Matthew 25 Fund. They also lead Mission trips
periodically to Guatemala and places in the US. If you have any questions about any of these
mission opportunities, would like to participate in one, or have an idea for a new mission, please call
the office and they will put you in touch with the chair or another member of the committee.
The Missions Committee meets on the 3rd Tuesday of each month—and all meetings are open to
anyone, even if you are not a committee member. Members of the committee are nominated by
the Nomination and Leadership Committee and each member serves as part of a three-year class.

Thank you FUMC! Our two missions projects for Warren County Families and Children were a great success this summer! We delivered 531 undies to The Helping Hand in June from your donations to be distributed to children of families in need. In August, 1,637 individual school supply items were delivered to IMPACT Community Action Partnership, thanks to your generosity and open hearts. This program provides needed school supplies to the children of more than 100 low income Warren County families each year. are honored to present all our 3rd grade students
with a new Bible in service. Please RSVP to Ellen if
you have a third grader that would like to receive a
Bible. All students participating are asked to be in
their classroom, Bibletown~Red Door~ at 9:20am
that morning. Please RSVP by October 14th.
We are doing something a little different this year. Each Com-
munion Sunday the Bibletown K-5th graders will join their families in the sanctuary for Communion. They will enter
into the service after the ser-mon for a children’s message and will then sit with their
families to receive Communion. If you are in Sunday School, your child will sit with their leader. Pick up will be in the
sanctuary after service. (Communion Sunday is the first
Sunday of each month)
