STONE SETTING FOR NON-FIREABLE STONES IN PRECIOUS METAL CLAY

Learn how to set non-fireable stones with PMC. Give your beautiful stone a unique background setting with complimentary textures and shapes. In this class you will learn tips and tricks to making a bezel the proper size for stones that cannot be fired in the kiln.

Date: This class consists of three evening sessions: Wednesdays September 15th, 22nd, and 29th 6-9pmClass Fee: $135 for instruction, use of tools and firing.Materials fee: Starts at $50 for a 45 gram pack of PMC and other consumables. Bring your own cabochon or buy one in class.Level: Intermediate to Advanced; students must feel very comfortable working with PMC.

PRECIOUS METAL CLAY CHARMS AND BEADS Learn to make beautiful charms and beads with PMC. In this class you will learn the basics of PMC: Forming, Firing and Finishing. We will start by making charms, and then move to wrapped and hollow beads. On the final class we will put them all together and make a beautiful piece of jewelry.

Date: This class consists of three Thursday sessions in September. Sept. 16th, 23rd, 30th 10am-1pmClass Fee: $135 for instruction, use of tools and kiln firingMaterials Fee: Starts at $45 for 25 grams of PMC3, use of tools, firing and other consumables. Bring your own wire, clasps, and chain for the last day of class. Instructor has some available to purchase if you do not have anyLevel: All. Beginner to Intermediate

PMC OPEN STUDIO Studio time is available for those who have taken at least 8 hours of instruction in metal clay and are fairly comfortable working with PMC. Studio tools & textures are available for you to practice and explore your creativity with PMC. Virginia will be available to assist you with your projects.

Students are welcome to work on their own projects with direction as needed. Open Studio sessions include firing and use of tools and textures.

Date: Wednesday Nights from 6-9pm Sept. 1,8 Oct. 6,13 and Dec. 1,8,15 Class Fee: $40 per session. Discounted rate for multiple sessions.Materials Fee: Bring your own PMC or buy some in class. Level: Intermediate to Advanced; students must feel very comfortable working with PMC.

EARRING EXTRAVAGANZA with Precious Metal Clay

In this class we will go wild and create a whole lotta components to make fabulous earrings. At the end of class there will be time to add ear wires and gemstones. A basic overview of PMC will be covered in this one day session which makes it great for beginners and experienced students.Date: Saturday October 9th, 2010 10-4:30Class Fee: $95 for instruction, use of tools and kiln firingMaterials Fee: Starts at $45 for 25 grams of PMC3, use of tools, firing and other consumables.EARRING EXTRAVAGANZA (continued)

Bring your own sterling wire, earwire, and beads to finish off your earrings. Instructor has these additional materials available to purchase if you do not have any on the day of class.Level: All. Beginner to Intermediate. Some wire wrapping and basic jewelry making skills helpful.

PHOTOPOLYMER PLATES, MOULDS AND LAYERING

Learn how to make gorgeous textures with a Photopolymer Plates. Then, add mould making to your repertoire and you are on your way create something wonderful to wear or to give as a gift. Photopolymer Plates (PPP’s) are great for adding text and interesting design to your PMC designs. Traditionally PPP’s are used in the printing industry --- but with PMC you are able to make a personalized “stamp” of a line

drawing made from various resources -- even your own drawings. The great thing is that a photopolymer plate can be used over and over again. You will love the sharp impressions you get from these fun and versatile texture plates! Students will also learn how to make moulds to add additional interest to their work as well as layering techniques.

PHOTOPOLYMER PLATES INTENSIVE In this semi-private class limited to 3 students, we will focus on making photopolymer plates which you can take home with you to use in your PMC creations, or in another PMC session. See description above for photopolymer plates. If you like you can make some PMC pieces in this session with your plates or use the entire time to make plates.Date: Thursday Sept. 9:30am-12:30amClass Fee: $65Materials Fee: $15 or more depending on the number of plates you make. Images will be provided by the instructor or you can print your own prior to class to make your own original designs.

GET THE MIDAS TOUCH! LEARN TO ADD GOLD TO PMC

Love the look of mixed metals? Want to add a bit of gold to your designs? In this class we will learn how to apply 22k gold to our fine silver creations to really make them stand out. We will be using Art Clay ACS Gold Paste 22K. There will also be a demo of Keum Boo.Date: Two Wednesday evening sessions in October: Wednesday, October 20th and 27th

Materials Fee: Price varies depending on the current price of gold. Price includes a burnisher for you to add to your own tool kit! Approx $70 and up. In addition, students will need to bring a pack of PMC3

and at least one pre-fired creation to the first session. Level: Intermediate to Advanced PMC creation to the first session.Level: Intermediate to Advanced

FINE SILVER LINKED BRACELET

Make a series of PMC components and connect them with jump rings or attach the components to leather. In this class you will learn the basics of PMC: forming, firing and finishing. You will finish off your bracelet with a custom clasp to compliment your creation.

Date: Three sessions: November 4th, November 11th, And November 18th 10am-1pmClass Fee: $135 for instruction, use of tools and kiln firingMaterials Fee: Approx $90 for 50 grams of PMC3, jump rings, use of tools, firing and other consumables. Students who wish to add leather will have an additional fee depending on design choices.

Something Old Into Something New; MOULD MAKING AND CREATIVE CONNECTING COMPONENTS Learn to turn beautiful vintage buttons and baubles into useable moulds. Then use the moulds with

some PMC, and Voila! You have beautiful jewelry components to incorporate into a unique jewelry design. In this class you will learn several ways to make moulds and create exquisite jewelry. The first two classes will focus on making jewelry components and a custom

clasp. On the final class we will add chain, beads, and gemstones to show off to your friends and family.

Date: November Three Wednesdays Nov 3, 10, 17 6pm-9pmClass Fee: $135 for instruction, use of tools and kiln firing.Materials Fee: Starts at $50 from a pack of 25 grams of PMC3. Students will need to bring their own chain and beads to finish the project on the final class.Level: Intermediate to Advanced. Students should be familiar with PMC and basic jewelry skills like wire wrapping and stringing.

PRIVATE AND SEMI PRIVATE SESSIONSCan’t make a class? Want some one-on-one time specific to your learning interests? Know others who may want to join you in this creative medium? Schedule some time at PMC Design Studio with Virginia. Class fees are as follows: 

Three or four hour sessions:1 person $45/hour per person plus materials  2 people $35/hour hour per person plus materials

3 people $25/hour per person plus materials4 people $20/hour hour per person plus materials

Session prices are as follows for sessions five to eight hours long.1 person $35/hour per person plus materials2 people $25/hour per person plus materials3 people $20/hour per person plus materials4 people $15/hour per person plus materials5 people plus. If you coordinate students, YOUR CLASS FEES ARE FREE.  You only pay for the materials you use.  All other participants are $15 per person per hour plus materials. The materials fee depends on the project(s) you select.

CLASS REGISTRATION

Sign-ups are on a first-come, first-serve basis. Prepayment of class is required to reserve your space. The materials fee will be collected the day of class. Please also read our class policies below. By signing up for a class you are indicating that you understand the class cancellation policies.

You can register for a class by PayPal or check. Checks need to be received 10 days in advance of the session. After that, we can only accept PayPal payments. In the event that a check is returned, an additional $20 will be charged to cover bank fees.

CANCELLATION POLICY

THERE ARE NO CASH REFUNDS. All payments are non-refundable. Please CHECK YOUR CALENDAR TWICE BEFORE SIGNING UP! If you cannot attend a class that you have committed to, please refer to the options below.

10 days notice. If you cancel at least 10 DAYS prior to the class, you can take a class of equal or lesser value up to 6 months after the class you missed has ended.

Less than 10 days. If you can not make a class please notify me. You may send someone in your place with written consent. No refunds are available.

No Shows. If you sign up for a class & do not call or show up FOR ANY REASON your entire class fee is NON-REFUNDABLE and no make up “credit” will be given - no exceptions.

Class Cancellations -- if we cancel. If student enrollment is below four students, PMC Design Studio may cancel a class up to three days prior to the class. You will be notified by phone or e-mail AND receive a FULL cash refund or credit towards another class.

WHAT TO BRING to Class

A notebook and pen to take notes. PMC tools – tough there will be some provided in class. PMC if you have some – if not Virginia will have some to purchase. Most classes use PMC Plus or PMC3 depending on the project. In some cases additional items will be indicated in the class description and will be provides by the instructor at a specified cost.

Please do not bring any additional people unless they are already registered. Due to various hand tools and torches in our studio, children are not allowed.
