A home’s quality is as solid as it’s foundation
Slab
At Highbury Homes we pride ourselves on our 100mm concrete slab (thicker than industry standard of
85mm) only using high quality products while adhering to best building practices.
Highbury Homes strictly uses a pump when pouring the slab.
Compared to other builders, we never drive our vehicles over
the slab, leading to destabilisation of the footings.
To reinforce the brickwork, along with
high quality local materials, we also
use vertical cored bricks instead of fast
wall bricks.
The fast wall bricks are significantly cheaper in
price and require less cement. Vertically cored
clay bricks to internal and external render walls
provide compressive strength compared to
most of our competitors.
Steel Columns In Cavities
Reinforcement in Brickwork
One of the ways we take extra time con-
centrating on details of our brick con-
struction is by using 6mm rods and weld
mesh to reinforce the brickwork. The
MRBL mesh provides better structural
integrity (as needed).
A propriety brand flashing system is used to combat water ingress, maintain a dry cavity and eliminate
leaks in double storey construction (other builders do not include these preventative measures).
Damp coursing throughout construction for
moisture and water proofing (attention to
detail other builders do not offer).
InsulationTo gain 6 star compliance, we use
cavity insulation as needed.
Ensuring flashings over windows
To hold down the roof, we use tie down
rods instead of tension cables often used
by builders. We take great care, time and
effort in placing the rods to ensure long term
peace of mind.
Different than industry standard, Blue Pine
roofing is considered our standard. Blue
Pine framing is H2 treated European house
borer and termite protected timber ensuring
durable framing solution.

Balcony details120mm step down versus 86mm industry standard that allows us to screed the
balcony and maintain one course step into the house.
Balconies have fall to a tiled gully,
making it easy to clean and effective
in water elimination.
StairwellThe Gyprock lining leads to a clean uninterrupted
line. Most builders use hard wall plastering and
cover the joint between the concrete and brickwork
with a cover timber to prevent the show of cracks
at the joints.
Internal WorkingsWe only use local CSR Gyprock, never imported.

Safety Awareness Program • Two Senior Supervisors (both registered builders and one is also an owner
of the company) oversee our onsite safety program
• We have a designated safety officer in house
• Monthly safety meetings
• Each of our supervisors must complete at least 6-8 safety checks per month

• “Tool Box” meetings with trades outlining our safety requirements and any
new or current safety issues
