Interpreting
Becoming Part of the Community…
The need to establish a Community Healthcare Center at SSTAR became evident in
the mid-1990s. People within the community with diagnoses of substance abuse,
mental health issues and HIV/AIDS were experiencing difficulty accessing primary
health care.
SSTAR recognized the need and expanded services to the community by creating a
center for individuals and families in need of outpatient primary medical care. The
Family HealthCare Center at SSTAR may have started off small but we now provide
primary healthcare across the full spectrum of the community.
From those humble beginnings, our healthcare center has grown to include ten
primary care providers and several specialist, including a pediatrician, an
endocrinologist, a cardiologist, and infectious disease doctors. Our medical director,
Dr. George Maxted, has a certificate of Added Qualifications in Geriatrics and is
particularly skilled working with patients as they age. Our primary care providers see
patients from birth to advanced age, helping their patients address issues that affect
their physical and mental health.
We welcome you to join our community partnership as a patient so our dedicated
providers and staff can help you lead a happy and healthy life.
