Where is your family from ? • My mother and father are originally from Guanajuato, Mexico.

What wave of immigration are they from ? • My parents are part of the 4th wave of immigration (1975).

How did your parents arrive in the U.S ? • Both of my parents crossed the border from Mexico.

Why did your parent want to live in the U.S ? • They both wanted to come U.S to have better life because of • Safety • Education for their children• Better Income • Stability

What was the first city your parents arrived to ? • The first city my parents arrived to was the city of Corona in

Riverside county in 1976.

What was the first job your parents worked ?

• The first job my parents worked, was in the strawberry fields in Corona. • My parents said it was the quickest job to get but was one of the

hardest job they ever worked.

Was there another city your parents moved to ? • The next city my parents moved to was Chino, California in 1977.

Was it hard to find food originally from Mexico ? • My parents said that there wasn’t any items being sold at the grocery

stores like • tortilla or • Mexican sweet bread

• But there was a small Mexican restaurant in Corona.

What was the next occupation your parents had ? • Both of my parents moved to Chino to work for a company that was

called Jim’s California Ranch in 1977.• The company was a modernized farm for chickens, that had

machinery equipment to gather the eggs laid by the chickens.• The eggs would cleaned, packed in containers, and placed on trucks

to be delivered.

Was there any family traditions ?• My mother and father would take both of my older brothers out to

eat at restaurants every month. • This traditions isn’t done anymore.

Where has your family finally moved?• My family moved to the city of Ontario, California in 2005.• My parents were entice by the change that was happening in Ontario

from new schools and a safe environment.

What is your parents occupation now ?

• My mother now works for a company called Maust's California Poultry in Chino, which is part of the chicken egg industry.

• My father is a supervisor for a company called California Poultry in Hemet, California. This company is also in the egg industry • Both of the companies my parents work for are connected by the

same branch.

What did you think of all this ? • I was very interested about knowing more information of the

background in which my parents came from. By knowing some of the struggles my parents went though, their dedication and hard work, really makes me appreciate them because of the opportunities they have given my brothers and I.
