Famous Dave’s is a company filled with some of the most passionate operators in the business. I loved working with them. During my time at Dave’s I designed a new prototype and developed a kit of parts to establish a strong clear trade dress for the brand.
Famous Dave’s does a very large take out and off premise business. Building dedicated to-go entrances that didn’t look like an after thought was very important to maintaining the emphasis placed on the to-go business. I placed a high priority on making sure we put our best foot forward on the to-go front.
Getting a consistent trade dress look on the many types of buildings we did was a challenge but one I think we did very well. I know drove some people crazy insisting that it needed to be recognizable if you squinted your eyes no matter what the building shape.
I went to an old friend to come up with a banner system that emulated the type the company uses at the many event they enter (and typically win).
The interior décor at Dave’s is done by a great group of people that spend most of their time collecting the fun items they use. Greg Bartholomew, a long time Dave’s guy deserves much of the credit the for the fun decoration.

Working at Famous Dave’s was one of the most memorable experiences of my career. The passion and pride the people who work there take is an amazing thing.
