Dietician at the FaR clinicFor overweight children and adolescents

You can talk with a dietitian about good eating habits based on your needs – what you are doing right and how you can

make improvements.

The service is available for guardians of children and young people aged 3–19. Young people from 13 and over can come along to the meeting. Feel free to bring other adults to the meeting; it is important to have a consistent approach to food.We provide support for overweight children and adolescents who do not already have contact with a dietician elsewhere. We do not see children or adolescents with obesity or other food-related problems. You can read about the difference between being overweight and obese at 1177.se.

AdultsExtra support for those receiving FaR

We will help you develop good exercise habits in a way that suits you – through discussion, guidance and coaching.

How does it work? You will receive support from a physiotherapist for 3-6 months. We start by discussing your abilities and needs and draw up an activity plan based on your FaR. We talk about everyday activities, exercise and sitting still for long periods. Next you start training, either on your own or with instructions from a physiotherapist. Then you can start exercising on your own by following your activity plan and the physiotherapist will give you support on the phone, online or at the FaR clinic. At the end of the support period we discuss and plan your continued physical activity.

Children and young peopleFaR support for children, young people and guardians

Guardians and children from 0–19 are offered talks and support to find a good level of exercise. FaR is required from

the age of 6 onwards. How does it work? You will receive support from a physiotherapist for 3-6 months. For children of up to 12 years old, we recommend that the child’s parent or guardian attends the first meeting alone, since we look at strategies for you to support your child in acquiring good exercise habits. Children from the age of 13 can come by themselves, but we recommend that their guardian comes with them.We start by talking about FaR and then we draw up an activity plan. We talk about physical activity and sitting for long periods of time, and we can book times for coaching if you want. Your child can then exercise on their own and get support on the phone, online or at the FaR clinic. Children from 6–9 years old can take part in FaR group training. At the end of the support period we discuss and plan your continued physical activity.
