Nga mihi nui ki a koe me tō whanau… Greetings to you and your family

Communication and relationship building

Building relationships between home and school is a vital component of positive learning. As a school, we are looking

forward to sharing with you our key focus areas, expectations for your child’s learning, class routines, homework

expectations and to clarify anything you are not sure about for 2017. We will meet in the hall at 6.30p.m. where I will

share the “big picture” and then you will be free to meet with the staff of your choice.

I am also hoping to have people from different community groups on site, so parents will know what community

groups are available, when and where they function and who to contact.

We do our best to keep you informed, so please read the weekly newsletter.

ATTENDANCE and PUNCTUALITY

Class instruction commences at 8.50 am and finishes at 3pm.

Please make sure your child is at school and in class before that time. Lateness, early withdrawal and poor attendance

adversely affect learning and often result in a child developing bad habits and a poor attitude to school. Please ring the

school if your child is going tobe absent from school for any reason. Our answer phone number is8236736 or you can

email our office at [email protected]

Your child’s safety is important to us and we need to know where they are if they are marked as absent. If the office

person contacts the family/ home and there is no response, then I am forced to engage the services of our truancy

officer. Approval for planned absences must be in writing (email is fine) in advance to the Principal with the reasons

and expected return date. If the reason is deemed acceptable the absence is recorded as justified. If not deemed

acceptable then it is recorded as unjustified.

SWIMMING!

We are very fortunate to secure the services of trained swimming instructors at the St Peter’s Private School Swimming

Pool. The programme includes, water confidence, basic swimming skills, and water safety.

This is a compulsory component of our Health and Physical Education programme and all children are expected to

participate. If there is a genuine reason why your child cannot swim a note or email to the teacher is required to explain

this, please.

There is a nice working focused buzz in the school thanks to the effort you have made ensuring your child/ children

have returned to school rested, organised and ready for the new challenges ahead.

Thanks, we appreciate it!
