Solid floor
”All piglets…rest simultaneously on either solid floor or slatted
floor covered with a mat or bedding….This resting area must be
dry, comfortable and separated from the sow area.” (Government
order no. 323).

– 14 piglets, 5 weeks old = 1,79 m2.

Legislation:
”The sow must be able to rest, get up and lie down without
difficulty.” (Government order no. 323).
Challenges:
Increased focus on the crate in 3 dimensions
– Width: lateral position vs. width: standing
