There are many different brands of clothing that are

popular within the Canadian retail market such as

Lacoste, TNA and Lululemon. Our research is focused on

the reasoning for people buying particular brands,

specifically the students in the Mother Teresa Catholic

High School community. 120 surveys were distributed to

grades 9-12 – both males and females, and the data

was inputted into the Tinker plot software for analysis.

Hypothesis:The high school students of Mother Teresa Catholic High

School purchased American Apparel the most during the

2009 year.

Goal:To find what clothing trend appeals most to students

between grades 9-12.

The data was collected from the students of Mother

Teresa Catholic High School, through a primary method

of data collecting – surveys.

While visiting various classrooms, we asked if five males

and five females (per class) would be able to take two

minutes to fill out a survey. Approximately, three classes

for each grade level were used in order achieve a wider

variety of results. Secondary sources were not

applicable for the research, since the data is based

solely on the fashion trends of Mother Teresa high

school students.

Lacoste was founded by Rene Lacoste and Andre Gillier in 1933. The shirt

revolutionized the men's sportswear and replaced the woven, long-

sleeved and starched classic shirts. It continues to offer the same quality,

comfort and solidity on which it built its name and which constitute its

uniqueness.

TNA was born and raised in Vancouver in 1998. They thrive on the details

that make it unique. Their passion for clothing is paralleled only by the

commitment to the riders, artists and innovators who inspire them to

create the styles they live, work and play in.

Ed Hardy clothing was inspired by a man who was also a legendary tattoo

artist, Don Ed Hardy. Hardy applies his art and tattoo work into his

clothing line. People around the world love his mix of Japanese and

American styles.

Dom Rebel was founded in 2003, to bring a new element of excitement to

men's contemporary fashion with a strong meaning behind it. The name

'Dom Rebel' comes from the Latin Dominus Rebellis (Master of Rebellions)

which stands for "Freedom of Mind-Liberty of Thought".

It is best-known for making basic cotton knitwear such as t-shirts and

underwear, but in recent years it has expanded - to include leggings,

leotards, tank tops, vintage clothing, dresses, pants, denim, bedding and

accessories for men, women, children, babies and dogs.

The brand was established in 1892 and became known as a supplier of

rugged, outdoor gear. It was acquired by The Limited Inc. in 1988 and in

1992 was repositioned as a more fashion-oriented casual apparel

business.

Abercrombie and Fitch Co. gave way to its offspring of yet another brand

of clothes, Hollister. This clothing comapny centers on one central theme

for both dudes and bettys, the surfing lifestyle in South California.

There is a wide variety of brands within the fashion market of the

Mother Teresa Catholic High School student body and this range of

style reflects the uniqueness of each student and also their own

personal character.

Through our research, it is clear to see the previous stated hypothesis

was that American Apparel was purchased the most during the 2009

year was wrong. Our research found that majority of the students

buy other brands that were not included in the survey. Additionally,

both genders are willing to spend between $100 to $150 clothing on

average. Finally, the reason why students buy a particular brand is

that the clothing causes the student to feel more confidence and look

better physically.
