Faust Park
2018
Preserving Your Past For Your Children’s Future Hello from the History Staff at Faust Park, one of St. Louis County’s most unique parks. The park was created in 1968
through the generosity of Leicester and Mary Plant Faust who donated the property. This was done with the intention
to forever preserve the original estate known as Thornhill. Thornhill was built between 1815 and 1819 by Frederick
Bates, the second governor of Missouri. The site was also used to create our Historic Village which preserves buildings
that represent the development of St. Louis County. Both the village and Thornhill host a variety of historic programs
throughout the year.
Over time many other attractions have been added to Faust Park. The St. Louis Carousel, the Butterfly House and the
Webster University School of Music are all on the park grounds, although separate from the historical areas. The park
also features a large playground, modern restroom facility, 2 picnic sites, a trail, an amphitheater and a reservable
covered picnic shelter. For information on the picnic sites or shelter call 314-615-4FUN or 615-8328.
Please visit our website at www.stlouisco.com/parks/faust, find us on Facebook, or call us at 314-615-8328 for more
