Join us for Hospitality on Sunday, January 29 at 10:15am in the Parish Center Hall. ****************************************************************************** St. Patrick’s School students invite you to join them, as part of Catholic Schools Week, to become heroes. They will be hosting a PINT SIZE HERO program with the American Red Cross by running a BLOOD DRIVE on Wednesday, February 1st from 7:30 am to 1:30 pm in the Family Education Center. Heroes come in all shapes and sizes. They don’t wear capes or special suits, and their badge of honor is the bandage that shows they gave the “gift of life”. Our students encourage eligible donors to become heroes and answer the call of patients in need by donating blood. Donating blood is one of the simplest things a person can do to help save a patient’s life. To make an appointment for our blood drive, go to www.RedCrossBlood.org and enter sponsor keyword: StPatrick (walk-ins are also welcome). For more information, contact St. Patrick’s School at (914) 962-2211. Thank you!

44th Annual March for Life, Friday, January 27. The March began as a small demonstration and rapidly grew to be the largest pro-life event in the world. The peaceful demonstration that has followed on this somber anniversary every year since 1973 is a witness to the truth concerning the greatest human rights violation of our time, abortion. Thousands of New Yorkers will be heading
south to Washington, D.C. on a pilgrimage and will join with hundreds of thousands from throughout our nation. We go to the Capitol to witness for life and to pray asking God to have mercy and restore us to a Culture of Life. Join us for the Celebration of Mass at 5:00 AM in the Main Church and depart St. Patrick's parking lot at 5:45 AM sharp and return approximately 11:00 PM. Contact: Maria Litrenta at (914) 962-1815. St. Patrick's Parishioners and all students have been paid for, non-parishioners $40.00. **************************************************************************************** The Respect Life Committee will be meeting on Tuesday, February 7th at 7:30 PM in Room 101 in the Family Education Center. Guest speaker, Alan Mehldau from the Westchester/Putnam Center for Life will give an update on legislation that strongly opposes our Catholic beliefs. We will also be brainstorming events/projects for 2017. We are privileged to have Msgr. Barry as our meeting moderator. Interested in joining or have further questions, please call Maria Litrenta at (914) 962-1815. All are we lcome!!

A Note f rom the Pas tor’s Desk Dear Parishioners,
After what promised to be an eventful Friday in Washington D.C. the other day, the same city will host the annual March for Life next Friday. The March commemorates the tragic decision of the U.S. Supreme Court to legalize abortion (now almost without any restrictions) on January 22, 1973. Precisely because of all the Inauguration events, the March for Life has been pushed back to January 27th this year. Nonetheless, January 22nd is still observed as a Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children. It may never happen that abortion becomes illegal again, but better protections for the unborn can happen and the Lord can change hearts so that no one ever turns to abortion again, even if the law permits the same.
There will be a bus leaving from our parish on the 27th to go to the March for Life (reservations are necessary). Those who go will be among thousands and thousands of people who wish to stand up for life. Since babies in the womb cannot make their voice heard, others have to do it for them. Let each of us, whether we are able to travel to Washington next Friday or not, continue to pray and do all we can to defend and promote the right to life of every human person, born and unborn. In fact, January 21-29 has been designated “9 Days for Life” as a time of prayer, penance and pilgrimage, or whatever we are able to do. As in all things, we pray that God’s will be done.
We are also in the middle of the week of Prayer for Christian Unity. Hopefully, being united in prayer for the protection of the weakest and most vulnerable among us, the unborn will unite Christians of every denomination. In fact, a greater respect for every human person, from the moment of conception until natural death, should unite not only all Christians but people of every faith and all people of goodwill around the world.
So we have our spiritual work cut out for us. We should pray for our country and all of our leaders; we should pray for the weak and vulnerable, beginning with the unborn; we should pray for unity among Christians and harmony among all people.
We should also trust that God can make all of these things happen, and then we should do our part, small as it may seem, to help bring them about. God bless us all!
Sincerely in Christ,
