    George L.Jackson, onJanuary 16,1970 didviolate SectionN500 ofthe PenalCode ofthe Stateof California by commit-

    ting, while serving alife sentencein a state prison,an~assault uponone JohnVLMills,and_that as aresult of said

    assault, JohnV. Mills died; it ischarged in said Indictment

    that plaintiff Fleeta Drumgoand plaintiffJohn W.1t3on January16, 1970did violate Section U501of the Penal. '

    Code ofthe State of California by committin, while confined

    in aCalifornia State correctional facility, an assault upononeJohnV. Millsby means offorce likely to producebodily

    injury; itis furthercharged insaid Indictmentthat plain-tiffs did violate Section 187 of the PenalCode ofthe State

    of defendants visited the inmate in response to the letter,

    from maximumsecurity unless and until he offered testimony

    against plaintiffs; the inmate is in fear for his life,and

    in May,1970, he was given contaminated food or poison was

    placed in his food; he knows of other inmates who fear for

    their lives if theyoffer testimony for plaintiffs or if
