Introduction
The transformation FD-R section has been designed to make the FD-C damper and FSD-C damper fully flexible. The square to roundconnection allows the space saving FD-C and FSD-C damper rangeto connect to the most common square/rectangular duct size rangeused where space is at a premium typically within floor voids andabove ceilings without increasing the perimeter dimension of theassembled unit.
The female round connection has been designed to have minimaltolerance once fitted to the damper that will allow a rivet or otheracceptable fixing to make a good connection requiring minimalsealant.
The male quadrilateral connection has been designed to acceptconnecting ductwork that slips onto the transformation section withminimal tolerance to allow a rivet or other acceptable fixing to makea good connection requiring minimal sealant.
Construction
Galvanised 0.7mm steel sheet is used in forming the tapered interfacefrom a round connection at the damper to the quadrilateralconnection at the ductwork.
The formed tapered sections are joined via stitch welding withcorner bracings of the quadrilateral connection welded and sealed.The interaction of the transformation assembled section with theround connection section, are also welded and sealed.
Pressure Loss
The fitting of the FD-R transformation piece to the FD-C or FSD-Cseries damper is considered to have no adverse affects on thedamper performance that it is affixed to. Please refer to the individualdamper brochures for performance details.
Maintenance
FD-R series transformation piece has been designed for inclusionwithin normal dry filtered air systems and is not intended for externalapplications.
Inspection and cleaning should be carried out as part of themaintenance programme.

The FD-R transformation piece will be supplied loose to allow thefitting of the damper and FD-R pieces where space is at a premiumand manipulation of installed ductwork is not possible. They aresupplied separately to suit site ductwork changes not accounted for atthe ductwork system design stage.
The FD-R transformation piece is supplied as a single item so as to beflexible in meeting your site requirements where differing quadrilateralconnections may be required at each end of the damper.
