Introduction v
Introduction
Sometimes we have a hard time making choices on what we want to eat. As it can be hard to
decide with what seems like a limitless amount of food options that we have here in Denton,
Texas along University Drive. As a hungry person who cant decide what is the best option to eat,
you have so many different choices to choose from. There are sit-down restaurants, grocery
stores to eat at home and the quick fast food restaurants. The big difference between the three is
that these days, you want to eat as fast as possible. Which is why I believe it is my duty to make
this feasibility report for you and other individuals looking for the best fast food option to eat on
University Drive in Denton, Texas.

Methods
How did I test for the results?
STEP 1: For starters I took the five most popular restaurants along University Drive and I-35.
The five chosen are in order of closeness to I-35 north going east along University Drive.
1.) The first fast food restaurant is McDonald’s.
2.) The second fast food restaurant is Braum’s.
3.) The third fast food restaurants is Whataburger.
4 Feasibility report on best fast food options
4.) The fourth fast food restaurant is Chick-fil-a.
5.) The last fast food restaurant is Taco Casa.
•STEP 2: The next challenge was finding a common ground for the different types of restaurants
involved. Seeing as that two of the five restaurants involved in this feasibility report do not share
the common food types of the other three burger chains, I feel it is important to make an
unbiased decision on the types of food and focus on certain categories that these fast food chains
must have in order to get great.
• STEP 3: I then created a ranking system based off of what I feel are the four most important
categories in the fast food business, which are:
1.) speed
2.) price
3.) quality
4.) selection
STEP 4: With these categories I went to each of the five restaurants and made a general non-
biased judgement of each chain under the for key categories on a scale of one to ten.
Chapter 3 5
STEP 5: With each restaurant, I made a note of things for each category.
• For scoring the speed of a restaurant, if I was to get my food in three minutes or less, the
restaurant was to receive a seven for speed. two minutes or less, the restaurant was to receive
a nine. And less than a minute will receive a perfect score of ten. Anything more than three
minutes will receive a score lower than seven of my discretion.
• For scoring the price of the restaurant, If I was to buy a meal as a combo and the price is
under five dollars total, that restaurant received a ten. If I was to buy a meal as a combo and
the price was anywhere between seven and five dollars that restaurant was to receive a nine.
If I was to buy a meal as a combo and the price was anywhere between eight and seven
dollars that restaurant was to receive an eight. If I was to buy a meal as a combo and the
price was anywhere between nine and eight dollars that restaurant was to receive a seven.
Anything more nine dollars will receive a six or less at my discretion.
• For scoring of quality of the restaurant, this took into account the cleanliness of the
restaurant, the interactions with the staff and the quality of the food. If I believed the
restaurant had all three factors at a good rate that restaurant was to receive a ten. If a the
chain had two of the three factors they would receive a seven at the highest. And if a they
had one of the three factors that restaurant will receive a five or lower. If one of the
restaurants had none of the three factors that are satisfying that restaurant would receive a
three or lower.
• For scoring the selection of of a restaurant, the biggest thing I took into account is the menu
size and different types of food items. This category is the most discretionary of the four.
With this info, I was able to get results that I believe do a fine job in showing which restaurant is
the best option for you.

Chapter 3 Conclusion and Analysis
These are the results and analysis of all five fast food restaurants on I-35 North and University
Drive in Denton, Texas.
McDonalds:
• speed: food took longer due to a delay on freshly cooked french fries. took 3 and a half minutes
to receive my food.
• price - total was around $5.90. Which is a decent price for a combo fast food meal
• Quality - Noticed the floor had not been clean in a while. As well as the soda machine area has
trash and straw wrappers everywhere. Was not awarded a point for the cleanliness factor. I did
actually feel welcome when interacting with the staff while order. Recieve a point for interaction
with the staff. I did not want tomatoes or onions on the burger I order but they happen to be on
the burger anyway. The fries were fresh and hot after waiting but I did not feel that was good
enough to give ta point for the quality factor. Meaning Mcdonals only earned 5 points from one
quality factor.
• Selection - I was quite surprised with the selection that tha McDonald’s was offering they had
what looked like forty food options. Braums: • Speed: I was pleasantly surprised how fast I was able to get my food. The timer I had finished
with one minute and forty-eight seconds so I did get my food in under two minutes earning a
nine for speed
• Price: With a better product the food was a little more expensive paying $7.32 for my meal.
• Quality: The restaurant was very clean as someone was mopping the floors while I was inside.
The cashier was very nice and friendly while taking my order. And the burger I has was
absolutely delicious. Loved the food. With all three factors being earned, they earned a perfect
score in the quality department.
• Selection: Selection is by far Braum’s easiest category to win. Braum’s is not only serves
American style fast food. They offer Ice cream and and other types of frozen deserts. And it
doesnt stop there. To go along with a restaurant and Ice cream shop, So also have a complete size
grocery store inside the restaurant. Giving them a huge advantage over others in the selection
department.
Whataburger
8 Feasibility report on best fast food options
• Speed: I felt like I was sitting down for a git 6-8 minutes before I received my food which
made me rethink the definition of fast food. What they lacked in speed they made up in
quality.
• Price: Was about the same as some of the others being around $7.50
• Quality: The floor and drink station again seemed dirty with trash. Not earning the
cleanliness factor. But It did earned the staff interaction factor, I felt welcome and was
greeted by the manager while I waited. He even offered to refill my drink while I waited.
And the food quality was great. Their burgers are always delicious.
• Selection: They offer so many different types of burgers and specialty burgers as well as
chicken items and salads. Id say they offer just about as much as McDonald’s
Chick-Fil-A • Speed: It seemed like by the time I grabbed my condiments and sat down to wait, they had
already called my name to give me my order. They are very fast. Perfect Score.
• Price: It was about $8.50 for my meal so it was a little bit pricier but they also made up for it in
quality.
• Quality: They were able to earn another perfect score along with Braums for quality by earning
all three quality factors. The restaurant was clean. The service at the counter was great and the
food was by far my favorite. Perfect Score
• Selection: This is unfortunately Chick-fil-A’s weakest category since their entire menu in
chicken based. Their whole selling point is on perfecting the chick and they have done that.
Unfortunately, if you are not hungry for chick this is not the place to eat. But if you are it is
great.
Taco Casa •Speed: I waited for about eight to ten minutes or so for Taco Caso to have fresh fajita meat
ready. That wouldnt have been a problem if they would have told me prior to ordering they
needed extra time to have fajitas ready instead of me having to wait for so long.
• Price. I paid about $5.80 for a fajita meal. Which is tied for tops for the best in price. But like
everyone else. what that have in price they lack in quality.
• Quality: I’d say the only thing I was satisfied with was the cleanliness. I couldnt really
understand the cashier due to a heavy hispanic accent and it seemed everyone was quite grumpy.
So they did not get a quality point for staff interaction and they did not get a quality point for
food qaulity as I felt it did not taste very good.
Chapter 3 9
• Selection: Since it is exclusively a mexican fast food restaurant, they do not have a very big
selection. If you are hungry for mexican food and nothing I would understand why you would
want Taco Casa.
Final analysis
• One major thing I noticed with almost every fast food restaurant was that there was a direct
opposite correlation between price and quality. Every single restaurant that had a lower price
seemed to have less quality. And for restaurants that have a little higher quality restaurant
and product had a way higher price.
• Braum’s was on the verge of a perfect score. If they had a little bit lower price and could’ve
gotten my food out a minute earlier.
• Selection could be the deciding factor for better scores. With some restaurants selling only
particular items they could’ve scored twice as high with a better a selection score.
10 Feasibility report on best fast food options
Recommendation
After reviewing these fast food options and determining which has the best value for individuals
who have trouble deciding. I believe you will get value at a way higher level when you go to
either Braum’s or Chick-Fil-A. Whataburger and McDonalds are good options as well but just
didnt score as high as Braum’s and Chick-Fil-A. If you want a particular food item, like Chicken,
there is not a better option than Chick-Fil-A on University Drive. Also if you want mexican food,
Taco Casa will have to do despite it scoring the lowest out of the five best fast food options on
University.
• All-in-all, Braum’s is the the best overall fast food option and you will got a lot for your value.
You can get Burger’s, Chicken, Ice cream and even groceries. The perfect restaurant.
