Our Lord Jesus Christ the King November 20, 2011

“I was hungry and you gave me food,

I was thirsty and you gave me drink.” — Matthew 25:35

My dear friends in Christ, Happy feast of Christ the King and Happy Thanksgiving Day! In spite of the many challenges and pains that our world is facing now we thank God for the many bless-ings that He has given us. I thank God for Jaden, who makes my day every time he greets me "Good morning Fr. Geoffrey" with his powerful voice. There is something about his greeting that is so unique and so sincere. You see Jaden is about four years old. He comes to Mass every Sunday with his parents who are very active here at St. Anne's. The innocence of this young boy generates joy and beauty. One time he came up to me after Mass and he said to me, "Fr. Geoffrey, I am sorry that I was late for Mass. My parents did not get up early!" I laughed so hard! I did not know that he was late! On Thanksgiving Day we are invited to reflect on God's faithfulness and love. St. Anne's is blessed with so many gifted and sincere individuals who continue to share their time, talents and treasure to make our community a place where God's love is revealed and experienced. I thank God for the opportunity to serve you as your pastor and as your co-worker in the vineyard of God. We somehow managed to stay afloat amidst this economic reality that has been challenging our very spirit and our human potential in every as-pect of our life. We keep pushing and we stayed together even when sometimes outside elements would try to divide us. There are so many things that we are thankful for! Just look around and we will see the abundance of God. I thank God for the beauty of the sunrise and the sunset. I thank God for the birds in the sky! I thank God for the beautiful flowers surrounding us. I thank God for the rain that waters our plants! I thank God for the children that come here Sunday. I thank God for the many headaches that come from people and the challenges that come with my position. I thank God who is love. He is a God of plenty! It is easy to focus on our pain and hurts ------and many times we fail to see the blessing that He has given us. The human condition allows us to react with frustration and anger, with fear and doubt and thus we manage to take away so wonderful moments of grace and joy from our human existence. I hope and pray that you have a blessed Thanksgiving Day with your family and friends. A great day to watch football but more importantly a great moment to be together to share God's abundance and bless-ings. I thank God for your support and the many ways you have showed your love for this community. So many times in the night I always say that I'm the "luckiest person and priest in the world" for having been surrounded with "people who love people!" In spite of my weaknesses and imperfection you have loved me unconditionally! Thank you! I will be with my parents, Francisco and Imelda and with my brother, Jerome and my sister, Eppie and her family. I am looking forward to taste my mom's chicken tinola, which the best in the world. No one does it better. But most of all I'm looking forward to just being with them for this particular day of thanksgiving. May God bless you with His peace and love, Happy Thanksgiving Day! With grateful heart, Fr. Geoffrey!
