Drodzy Parafianie i Przyjaciele, Tradycja utożsamiała jerozolimski plac świątynny z górą Moria, na której Abraham miał złożyć Bogu w ofierze swego syna Izaaka. Świątynię zbudował Salomon około 950 roku przed Chrystusem. Została zniszczona i zbezczeszczona przez Nabuchodonozora w 587 roku. W 538 roku uprowadzeni Żydzi wrócili do Jerozolimy i postanowili odbudować świątynię. Jednak
miejsce najświętsze DEBIR pozostawało ponuro puste. Nie było Arki Przymierza. Król An och IV Epifanes w 167 roku znowu ją zbezcześcił, ustawiając w niej posąg Zeusa. Wybuchło powstanie machabejskie i świątynię oczyszczono. W 70 roku po Chrystusie świątynia została zburzona przez Tytusa. Cesarz Hadrian wzniósł na tym miejscu świątynię poświęconą Jupiterowi, a następnie miejsce to stało się wysypiskiem śmieci. Islamski władca Omar zbudował tam w roku 692 meczet. Ale żadne z tych zbezczeszczeń nie było tak straszne jak zbezczeszczenie świątyni ciała Chrystusa, gdy Go ukrzyżowano. Sam Jezus wypowiada słowa o zburzeniu świątyni w odniesieniu do własnego ciała: „Zburzcie tę świątynię, a ja odbuduję ją w trzy dni!”. Żadna budowla świata, żaden cud architektury nie jest tak cenny w oczach Boga jak ludzkie ciało, ponieważ nosi Jego ukrytą obecność. Konieczność oczyszczenia, o którym dziś czytamy, przede wszystkim należy skierować w stronę sanktuarium wnętrza ludzkiego. Z czego oczyścić ludzkie istnienie? Nie ma nic brudniejszego niż wykorzystywanie miłości, a gdy mamy do czynienia z miłością najpiękniejszą, wykorzystywanie jej staje się podłością. Czy byłeś kiedyś wykorzystany w swoich uczuciach? Czy ktoś wykorzystał twoją miłość i przyjaźń dla własnego interesu, udając miłość? To niezwykle przykre doświadczenie. Bóg mnie kocha, ale czy ja Go kocham, czy tylko wykorzystuję Jego miłość, by mieć korzyść zarówno z grzechu, jak i z Jego przebaczenia? Odpowiedz sobie na te pytania, zrób krótką refleksję a następnie konkretne postanowienie poprawy. Serdecznie gratuluję Panstwu Mary i Phil Parisi którzy wygrali w naszej „Wielkiej Loterii Pieniężnej” $2,000.00. Dziękuję im za ofiarę $200.00 na parafię św. Konstancji. Gratuluję również Pani Katarzynie Bijos która wygrała sumę $1,000.00 i skladam jej podziękowanie za ofiarę $450.00 na fundusz „Zaadoptuj studenta”. Pogłębiając naukę Ojca Świętego Franciszka o uzdrowieniu i zjednoczeniu z Chrystusem, w naszej Archidiecezji przeżywamy tzw.” Rok Sakramentów”. Poprzez sakramenty święte mamy możliwość dotykania i bycia zjednoczonymi z Jezusem. We wrześniu zgłębialiśmy Sakrament Eucharys i, w październiku Sakrament Namaszczenia Chorych natomiast w listopadzie nasz wzrok kierujemy na umieranie, żałobę i pogrzeby. Od stycznia Nowego Roku nasz wzrok skierujemy na Sakrament Chrztu Świętego. W lutym będziemy celebrować Sakrament Pokuty a w marcu Sakrament Małżeństwa. W kwietniu nasz wzrok skierujemy na Sakrament Bierzmowania, a w maju i czerwcu na Eucharys ę i Sakrament Kapłaństwa. Niech Pan wszystkim obficie błogosławi!

My Dear Parishioners and Friends, History has compared the temple square in Jerusalem with the Mount Moriah, where Abraham was to sacrifice his son Isaac to God. Solomon built the temple about 950 B.C. The temple was destroyed and desecrated by Nabuhodonosor in 587 B.C. In the year 538 B.C., the Jews who previously le returned to Jerusalem and decided to rebuild the temple. However, a most sacred place called Debir remained starkly empty. The Ark of the Covenant was not to be found. King An och IV again desecrated these grounds in 167 B.C., erec ng there a statue of Zeus. The Maccabees Uprising broke out and the temple was cleared of debris. Then in the year 70 A.D., the temple was destroyed by Titus. Emperor Hadrian built another temple on this site dedicated to Jupiter, and a erwards the area became a refuse dumping ground. The Islamic ruler Omar constructed a mosque there in 692 A.D. Yet, none of these desecra ons was as abhorrent as the desecra on of the temple of the body of Christ when He was crucified. Jesus spoke of this desecra on in rela on to the temple of His Own Body: "Destroy the temple and I will rebuild it in three days!" No worldly edifice or architectural wonder is as precious in God's eyes as the human body, because God resides within. The necessity of life-giving water, referred to in today's readings and symbolizing the purifying waters of Bap sm, points to our iden ty as bap zed Chris ans in which the Holy Spirit dwells. Of what should human existence be cleansed? There is nothing more offensive than abusing love; and when we are dealing with the most precious love of all, vilifying it becomes despicable. Have you ever been unfairly taken advantage of in your feelings or emo ons? Has anyone ever abused your love and friendship for their own interests, feigning love? This is an extremely offensive experience. God loves me, but do I love Him or just use His love to reap the benefit of His forgiving my sins? Take some me to ask yourself these ques ons and then reflect on what being a member of God's temple means to you. I warmly congratulate Mary and Phil Parisi who won $2,000.00 in our parish lo ery drawing. We thank them for dona ng $200.00 to St. Constance Parish. I also congratulate Mrs. Katarzyna Bijos who won $1,000.00. We are most grateful for her offering of $450.00 toward the "Adopt a Student" fund. In our Archdiocese, we are par cipa ng in the teaching of Our Holy Father Francis regarding healing and union with Christ through an ini a ve en tled "The Year of the Sacraments." Through the Holy Sacraments we are able to become closer to and united with Jesus. In September, the Sacrament of the Eucharist was the focal point; in October, the Sacrament of Anoin ng the Sick; and in November, we are medita ng on death, mourning and loss. In January 2015, we will focus on the Sacrament of Bap sm; in February, we will celebrate the Sacrament of Penance; and in March, the Sacrament of Matrimony. In April, our agenda will be the Sacrament of Confirma on; and in May and June, the Eucharist and the Sacrament of Holy Orders. May Our Lord shower you with His choicest blessings!

ANNOINTING OF THE SICK Communal Anoin ng and Mass for the Sick on Saturday, November 22 at 1:30pm. Who should be anointed? Those who are seriously ill… those who are suffering from chronic illness… those who are preparing for surgery… those who are feeling the effects of aging… those who are emo onally, men-tally and physically disabled. Because the Anoin ng of the Sick is a communal ac on, we invite the members of the families those to be anointed to join us at the Mass. We also incite and encourage parishioners to a end the Liturgy to help our sick realize how they contribute to the well-being of our faith community by accep ng their sufferings and using their me to pray for all of us. assist in the Our Lady of the Angels Mission mobile
food pantry, and over fi y St. Constance lay ministers
gathered on Wednesday evening 10/22 in Borowczyk
Hall to hear Fr. Maciej Galle speak on The Joy of the
Gospel. These ac vi es will be reviewed and more
discussed at our next mee ng on Thursday, 11/13 in

On Monday November 10th, we will welcome once again Our Lady of Czestochowa “Ocean to Ocean”. The icon will stay with us all day long for private adora on. English Masses will be celebrated at 8:00am and 12:45 pm. All are invited to pray and to receive special holy cards. The Icon of Our Lady of Czestochowa will be visi ng many parishes in Chicago and finally will travel to the shrine of Our lady of Guadalupe in Mexico. ST. CONSTANCE WOMAN’S CLUB The St. Constance Woman’s Club will meet on Monday, November 24, 2014, at 7:00 pm in Borowczyk Hall; doors open at 6:30 pm for registra on. November is the month to give thanks for the many blessings that we have received. This month we will have the opportunity to share those blessings with those in need. The Woman’s Club fills adult and children’s stockings for service personnel and their families to distribute through the USO. Share the spirit of the season and bring travel/hotel size items for adults and small/ travel size toys and items for children. Monetary dona ons will also be accepted. Cookie ns will be available to fill with your delicious home made cookies; these will also be distributed at the USO.The main event of the evening is a BABY SHOWER and guest speaker from the Woman’s Center. Ladies are asked to bring items requested by the Woman’s Center: baby diapers in sizes 1, 4, 5, and 6; crib linens; good condi on maternity clothing; baby girl winter clothing (sizes newborn to 6 months); winter boy clothing (sizes 4 and up). They also need 3 walkers, 5 infant car seats/carriers, 3 fixed sized cribs, crib sheets, 2 bouncers, 2 swings and 3 changing tables. Toddler beds and double strollers are also needed. Perhaps you have some of these items le over from your grandchildren. Any dona on is greatly appreciated. If anyone in the parish wants to donate toward this baby shower, they can drop the items off at Borowczyk Hall on November 24th. If you have any ques ons, call Fran at 773-775-9541. SAVE THE DATE! Today is the Feast of the Dedica on of the Lateran Basilica. Who knew? I didn’t conduct a poll this year, but the last me this feast fell on a Sunday, I asked a few of my Catholic friends if they were hip to the Lateran Basilica and if so, why the Church puts a feast day around it. Well, that would be a nega ve. On both counts. Which certainly speaks more to my friends’ and my lack of knowledge than it does to the importance of the feast day itself. Granted, it’s not Easter, Christmas, or Pentecost, but a er I learned more about it, I’d give it a high ranking on the feast day list. It’s not about a church, a er all. I mean, it is about a church, but it goes way, way, way beyond that. Per a Catholic website I stumbled upon, the basilica is “the cathedral of Rome. This is not St. Peter’s, but it is the Pope’s cathedral…It was the bap sm church of ancient Rome… It was built in the me of Constan ne and was consecrated by Pope Sylvester in 324.” 324? Yikes! The place has got some age on it. The website con nues: “Today the liturgy celebrates the dedica on of the Lateran Basilica, called ‘mother and head of all churches of the city and the world.’” Apparently the observance of the feast was confined to Rome before it was extended to all churches of the Roman rite in 1565. Over 400 years later, we’re s ll celebra ng. The readings for today speak of temples. From Ezekiel, “The angel brought me back to the entrance of the temple and I saw water flowing out from beneath the threshold of the temple toward the east,” and the Gospel tells of Jesus shaking up the temple when he finds money-changers there along with individuals involved in livestock commerce. Making a whip, Christ drives the animals and birds from the area (“take these out of here”) and overturns the tables of the money-changers, (“stop making my Father’s house a marketplace”). Here, his disciples recall the words of Scripture (from Psalms): “Zeal for your house will consume me.” And that’s when Jesus hints that a church is not a church… “Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up,” he says. With history/faith on our side, we know what he’s talking about, and Peter goes in a similar metaphorical direc on wri ng to the Corinthians: “Do you not know that you are the temple of God, and that the spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for the temple of God, which you are, is holy.” With Jesus as our cornerstone, we are the living stones making up the temple of God here on earth. I’m no carpenter, but for guys who know what they’re doing, it’s probably easier to build a church than it is to totally embrace our discipleship (and hence, our holiness). Per the Indian poet Tagore, “While God waits for his temple to be built of love, men bring stones.” Stones are good, and can be used to build up a temple. But living stones build up the Kingdom. So here’s to the dedica on of the Lateran Basilica! And may it remind us that we are--each one of us--the temple of God.

SAKRAMENT NAMASZCZENIA CHORYCH W sobotę 22 listopada o godz. 1:30 po południu w naszym kościele zostanie odprawiona uroczysta Msza św. podczas której zostanie udzielony Sakrament Namaszczenia Chorych. „Przez święte chorych namaszczenie i modlitwę kapłanów, cały Kościół poleca chorych cierpiącemu i uwielbionemu Panu, aby ich podźwignął i zbawi; a nadto zachęca ich, aby łączyli się dobrowolnie z męką i śmiercią Chrystusa, przysparzali dobra Ludowi Bożemu.” (KKK 1499). Kto może przyjąć Sakrament Namaszczenia? Każdy kto jest poważnie chory. Każdy kto osłabł fizycznie po ostatnim namaszczeniu. Każdy kto ma być operowany w najbliższym czasie. Chore dzieci. Każdy kto cierpi na choroby przewlekłe jak artretyzm, cukrzyca, itp.. Każdy kto jest w podeszłym wieku i z tego powodu odczuwa ubytek sił. Chrzty w języku angielskim są w pierwszą i trzecią niedzielę, a w języku polskim w drugą i czwartą niedzielę każdego miesiąca. Rodzice są zobowiązani do wzięcia udziału w spotkaniu przygotowującym do tego sakramentu przed planowaną datą chrztu dziecka. Prosimy o skontaktowanie się z biurem parafialnym, aby zgłosić dziecko do chrztu. Sakrament Małżeństwa… Archidiecezja Chicago zaleca, aby osoby, które planują zawarcie sakramentu małżeństwa zgłosiły się do biura parafialnego co najmniej cztery miesiące przed datą ślubu. Chcielibyśmy i usilnie zalecamy, aby w naszej parafii okres przygotowania trwać sześć miesięcy. Prosimy, abyście najpierw ustalili termin w kościele, a następnie w innych miejscach. Zapraszamy więc do naszego biura parafialnego najwcześniej jak tylko jest to możliwe . Sakrament Namaszczenia Chorych… Prosimy o kontakt z księdzem w celu ustalenia terminu przyjęcia tego sakramentu. SACRAMENTAL LIFE Bap sms… We celebrate Bap sms in the English language on the first and third Sundays and in the Polish language on the second and fourth Sundays of each month. Please do not wait un l the person is unconscious or near death.
