Bible Camp near Redding, CA, gave us an

inspiring report about the camp’s English as a Second Language

(ESL) program done in partnership with Footsteps Missions.

In July, approximately 60 junior and senior high school students

and four chaperones from Taiwan came to Mountain Meadows

for a week-long total English immersion cultural

experience. They were mixed with English- speaking staff mem-

bers and campers in all the normal activities of a Christian camp.

Most evenings a Bible lesson was given in English, but one spe-

cial night the JESUS film in the Taiwanese language was shown.

After the film, students began asking many deep spiritual

questions. The discussions continued into the next day. Several

counselors reported similar stories about how groups in their

cabins expressed that they understood what they were being

taught about Christianity. They exclaimed:

“We know we are sinners! We need Jesus now! We want to give

our lives to the Lord!” Miraculously, around 25

students and one adult chaperone prayed to receive Jesus!

Through social media, Footsteps Missions staff continue to an-

swer questions and help their Taiwanese friends grow in their

spiritual journey with Jesus.

MONDAY: Praise God for the Chinese Languages JESUS DVD (pictured above). This

DVD includes eight languages and is subtitled in Mandarin and English. The Story of

Jesus for Children is a bonus feature. Pray for effective use of this compelling story of

Jesus and His offer of forgiveness. Pray for more ministries to offer this DVD as a gift

to people from Chinese and Taiwanese backgrounds. Pray for many families to watch

this special DVD and become followers of Jesus.

TUESDAY: Pray for partner ministries reaching out during the Lunar New Year on

January 28. Pray for the Tết, Losar, Tsagaan Sar, and Chinese New Year festivals to

create great opportunities for connecting with immigrants from Asian and Southeast

Asian countries. Pray for people to be open to receiving and watching gifts of the JE-

SUS DVD in their heart language. Pray for whole families to have the opportunity to

hear, see and respond to the message of Jesus Christ. Pray for churches to be able to

disciple the new believers in their relationship with Jesus.

WEDNESDAY: Pray for the bold initiative, Our Newest Neighbors, which seeks to en-

courage people to pray for and reach out to those who have come to live among us

from some of the most unreached countries in the world. Pray for the American Cities

Languages JESUS DVD featuring 24 languages. Pray for churches and individuals to

catch the vision of loving and praying for their foreign neighbors, so they will under-

stand Jesus’ love through tangible loving actions.

THURSDAY: Praise God for the many Christian ministries which are teaching ESL

classes to assist people from other nations in learning English. Pray for more ESL

teachers to use the JESUS film in their classes. Pray for deep spiritual conversations

after students watch the film. Ask God to reveal Himself and to open the hearts and

minds of students. Pray for the transformation of lives as people personally encounter

Jesus. Pray for Christian volunteers to step forward in helping serve people from other

nations with love and compassion.

FRIDAY: Pray for the ministries, churches and individuals who reached out with gifts

of the JESUS DVD to many immigrants during the Christmas holidays. Pray for

opportunities to further interact with the people who received the DVDs and to an-

swer their questions about Jesus and Christianity. Pray for many people from

other nations to accept Jesus’ invitation by becoming His followers. Ask God to pro-

vide boldness to those who have recently become followers of Jesus to share their

new faith with family and other immigrants.

SATURDAY: Pray for our partner ministries working to mobilize churches to assist

the large refugee settlements throughout San Diego County, CA. Pray for the

area’s 70 different language-speaking groups to be open to physical, emotional

and spiritual help provided by churches. The three largest refugee groups are from

Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan. Ask God to prepare the hearts of these people to be

open to watch the JESUS DVDs in their mother tongue offered by church groups.

Pray for many people to place their faith in Jesus.

SUNDAY: Thank God for the Without Borders Conferences, sponsored by Crescent

Project, to equip Christians to minister to Muslim women. Pray for creative uses of

the Magdalena: Released From Shame DVD to help women understand Jesus’ for-

giveness and how He greatly values and loves them.
