Natural Resources• The Orange River is arguably the areas most significant natural resource, as it feeds the

region’s agricultural activities and the alluvial diamond mines (e.g. at Alexander Bay).• The Atlantic Ocean to the West is ideal for fishing, due to the cold Benguela current. • The area consists largely of semi-arid land, that is popular for its natural flora, with the

flower route being one of the main tourism initiatives of the area. • The undeveloped nature and climate of the area makes it ideal for star-gazing • The climate of the area gives it a competitive advantage for renewal energy
