The Explorers Class continues its study of Religion and Health this morning with a review of the correlation between religious involvement and health in the areas of physical health and mental health. Jan Stevens, retired perfusionist at the Mayo Clinic is leading this class. Next weeks focus will be on the role of religion and health services and its relationship to the current access to healthcare. 9:00 a.m. in the Adult Room.

Contemporary Issues - The Adult Contemporary Issues class continues its series on the topic of Happiness. The series will involve videos and discussion based on the views of multiple philosophers and our Christian heritage to understand the state of happiness. Sandi Chamness is leading the discussion. Class meets at 10:30 in the Adult Room.

Womens Retreat 2013 - Strength for Your Spiritual Journey - This one-day retreat on Feb. 23 will be led by Jen Rooney, a Retreat Designer and Presenter, Jane Tews, & Carol Coleman at the Franciscan Renewal Center in Scottsdale. United Methodist Women meet on Thursday, February 21, at 7:00 p.m. in the Adult Room. Pastor Jane Tews will speak about Bali High, her exotic trip to southeast Asia. All women of the church are invited for fellowship, refreshments, service and learning.

Donate Books - United Methodist Women will have a Used Book Sale on Saturday, March 9. We are collecting novels, mysteries, biographies, childrens books, non-fiction. No magazines or textbooks, please. Place your books in the box in the narthex or in the church office on weekdays.

Open Table Informational Meeting, Thursday, Feb. 21 - Dayspring will be launching its 2nd table for this exciting mission program, and were looking for volunteers to serve on this next table. The Open Table model consists of organizing 10-12 people who volunteer their time to serve, and use their networking contacts and experience to help a pre-determined client meet some well-defined goals. Connections is a Dayspring mission that advocates for the intrinsic worth of all persons, regardless of their sexual orientation. It offers support to and education about gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered persons and their families. It also hosts the Tempe PFLAG group meeting each first Friday of the month. Our clergy can provide the names of Connections members for you to contact.
