Love
We got a newsletter a few days ago from a young missionary friend that said something like, “I’m in love and I don’t care who knows about it!” She was bold, out there and inviting others into her celebration! There are probably more people on her mailing list than people I know, so word spread quite quickly. This wasn’t like keeping your diet a secret, just in case it’s a fail. It was more like, “Shout it from the house top!”...I’m not embarrassed, bashful or going to keep quiet about this. I know people who love football, or mint-chocolate chip ice cream, or some TV show. How do I know? It’s easy. They talk about it. They work it into their conversation. They paint their face two-tone, carve the logo into their hair or tattoo it on their body. It’s actually pretty easy to know what some people love. I really enjoy seeing an older couple that look at each other with love in their eyes. You can see the joy or pain of one reflected in the other’s eyes. You know they have moved beyond the warm feeling of attraction to the nitty-gritty of love. What drew them together is still there, but they have progressed to something that is as strong as iron. The impurities have burnt off in the heat of the blast furnace, melding two lives together, shaped by the forge of struggle, pain, disappointment and loss. They’ve been sharpened by conflict, culture and others’ expectations. At times they have embraced each other so as not to fall at the onslaught of life. In quiet moments, peering deep into each other souls, there is an understanding of, “It’s just you and me, now.” Such great love. They have given up everything and received everything. It is no wonder God used this picture to help us understand His love for us. His Word describes the relationship between us as, He is the groom and we are His bride. Those words take me back to the wedding day. Everyone is excited and nervous. They look their best. The tears that day are tears of joy. As usual, God sees a bigger picture, a deeper, longer picture…a panoramic of time. For the one who sees the end at its beginning, it is both a reality and a coming event. Love is work! Love is sacrificial, longsuffering, kind, not selfish, protective, trusting, and hopeful. Love is God. He has not and will not fail you. He is still there by your side. He has done all the work of loving you. He is waiting for the time when you will see Him as He now sees you. Like soldiers received home, wrapped in the embrace of those who love them, you will enter His kingdom enveloped in His love for you. You are loved! Blessings, Rev. Ric

February 2020 Prayer List When we join the United Methodist Church, we take a vow that we will be, loyal to the United Methodist Church
and uphold it by Our Prayers, Our Presence, Our Gifts, Our Service and by Our Witness. Scriptures call us to celebrate with those who celebrate and to grieve with those who grieve. We grow in connection with one another as we know
the praises and concerns of the individual churches and respond in a manner of praise and/or prayer. Please feel free to share your news that we may share especially the prayer concerns to the faith community.

The Gospel of Mark ~ All are welcome! Books and study guides are available in the office or during class.
If you miss a class, video sessions are available on RightNow Media. The Gospel of Mark chronicles Jesus’s journey from Galilee to Jerusalem.
Along the way, the Messiah gathers a ragged band of disciples.
As crowds grow and dwindle on the road to Jerusalem,
only a few stick by the Suffering Savior on the road of discipleship.
In this 11-part series on the Gospel of Mark,
author and speaker Francis Chan invites us to walk with him along the ancient ways of the Master.
Tracing the steps of Jesus and the Twelve through Israel, Francis explores the major themes
of the Gospel of Mark, and asks: Are we willing to take this journey to embrace discipleship?
If you would like a free account with
access to more than 10,000 biblical
videos available from any device, please
