The Soul Food Festival held on February 23, 2011 was a delicious event. Several REGAL ladies volunteered at the event and everyone appreciated the food catered by Chef Eddie’s. This month is Black History Month and we appreciate the support from both IMAGES and REGAL in helping the campus and the college to celebrate and reflect on the contribu- tions made throughout history. The meeting held by REGAL on February 25th symbolized how difficult it is for women in general to trust one another and to com- municate with each other. Each individual member took a turn standing in the center of the circle and had the other members say something nice and positive or complimentary to the member in the circle. Then we took a moment to reflect on how difficult it is to be positive and to communicate with one another in that way and how we often are most critical about the people closest to us. The circle represents the bond that women, especially minorities, need to push forward and be successful. It is necessary to network and appreciate the faces that we are privileged to see every day. This made us realize that many of us did not know each other that well at all and made many of us open our eyes. March 9, 2011

Mentoring Programs Mentees of the Month of FebruaryREGALKhalila Cook is one of our most im-proved students. She was facing several obstacles in the Fall but has really made an effort to overcome those obstacles this term. Khalila has regular meeting attendance and has established a good relationship with her mentor. She has been working hard academically and has found a way to use her talents as a writer to make a unique contribution to both the Bridges and REGAL programs. Thank you, Khalila for not giving up! You are a great example for your REGAL sisters and your other peers.
IMAGESRalph Elie has had the highest academic improvement this past semester. Ralph will be graduating soon and have been dedicated and faithful member of IM-AGES. We’re so proud of his academic achievements and wish him the best in his future endeavors.
LATINADaphne Gonzalez is a very quiet yet eager young lady who has drive and ambi-tion. She is very involved in LATINA and other clubs on campus. In her free time she enjoys reading and her friends and family. She serves as the LATINA secretary and holds a 2.83 GPA. She is graduating this Summer and will attend UCF in the Fall.
MOSAICJonathan Valderamma started in the mentoring program in Summer 2009. Since his induction he has given countless hours volunteering at Legacy Middle School while also attending all of the MOSAIC events. He serves as the MO-SAIC Community Chair and holds a 3.16 GPA. He is graduating this Spring and attending UCF in the Fall.
ELITEKrystal Almanzar has been a great addi-tion to the newly-added ELITE mentor program at Osceola Campus. She is al-ways ready and willing to assist in any ca-pacity that is needed. As a Vice-President of ELITE, she takes initiative in brain-storming ideas and has great leadership skills. She is dedicated and ambitious. She excels academically by maintaining a 3.71 GPA.
