VALENTINE’S PARTY GUIDELINES Valentine’s Day celebrations are organized by classroom teachers and volunteers. With Valentine’s Day parties coming soon, it is a good idea to review the district wide standards for classroom snacks and party foods. If food is provided in the classroom environment, it must meet the nutrition standards in this procedure. If your child chooses to bring Valentine cards for their classmates, we encourage you to select cards without candy options. However, we know that many cards found in stores now include some sort of treat. All Valentines handed out that include candy will go home with students and will not be opened during the party. REPORT CARDS & PARENT CONFERENCES This Friday, our first semester report cards will be sent home. One goal of report cards is to provide the most updated information on a student’s progress. We encourage you to review your child’s report card with them, highlighting areas to be proud of as well as opportunities for this spring. All of our students are working hard and we are proud of their learning. If you have questions about report cards, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher. Parent conferences are coming up the first week in March and this time is set aside for reflection and discussion. Our goal is to connect with every family during parent conferences. KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION 2020

Kindergarten registration for Shoreline residents with students starting kindergarten in the fall of 2020 began on Tuesday, February 4th at all elementary schools. Registration is NOT on a first-come, first-served basis. All students registered by the close of business on Friday, Feb. 28th will be put in a drawing to fill kindergarten spaces available at their neighborhood schools. Incoming kindergarten students who have a sibling at their neighborhood school will be given priority placement at their neighborhood school if they are registered prior to the close of business on February 28th. Those registering after February 28th will be added to their neighborhood school’s wait list as they register.

In order to attend kindergarten in the fall, a child must be 5 years old by August 31, 2020., and reside in the cities of Shoreline or Lake Forest Park. The District is closed to new K-6 students living outside of the Shoreline School District.

To complete the registration process, parents should bring their child’s birth certificate, current immunizations, and proof of address to the Echo Lake office when filling out the enrollment paperwork.

Please share this information with your neighbors and friends. We are very excited to welcome the class of 2033!

ECHO LAKE BOOK FAIR MARCH 30TH-APRIL 3RD, 2020

Dear Echo Lake Families,

The Echo Lake Scholastic Book Fair is coming. The Book Fair is a wonderful opportunity to put books into your children’s hands and is a fundraiser for the Echo Lake library. Echo Lake will use 25% of net sales to purchase new books.

This year’s Book Fair begins Monday, March 30th at 8:30 AM, and ends Friday, April 3rd at 12:00 PM.

The PTA is generously donating $5.00 in Book Fair credit to every student to purchase a book. Students will be able to access these funds during their scheduled library time, or during the Open House on Thursday, April 2nd.

The Book Fair hours for this year are: Monday-Wednesday, March 30th-April 1st, 8:30-4:00 Thursday, April 2nd, 8:30-4 and 6-8:30 (Open House Night) Friday, April 3rd, 8:30-12:00

The Scholastic Book Fair is a labor-intensive event. Numerous volunteers are needed to support the setup, daily cashiering, and break down of the Book Fair. There are many, many opportunities to volunteer.

Please sign up for times that work for you: https://signup.com/go/FriRftE or you may contact me directly.

Thank you, Jean Bolivar [email protected]
