FEBRUARY 13th NEW MICROPHONE with NO ANNOYING SOUND Today I was overjoyed to plug in a new microphone and finally the ‘DING-DING-DING’ noise has gone FOREVER. Hopefully people will notice the change. We will revert to our old process which Involved a short ring of a bell to alert people to the announcement. NO DOGS ALLOWED IN THE SCHOOL GROUNDS A reminder to parents that the Department of Education does not allow dogs inside any school grounds, even if on a lead, during school hours. If you walk your dog to school, it must remain out- side the gate. The exception to this are ‘service’ dogs who are trained to help a person for medical reasons e.g. a visual or hearing impairment, etc. Service dogs may be identified by an optional harness, backpack, vest, bandanna, or labelled leash, which may sometimes be colored to indicate the type of service dog. COMPASS We are now using COMPASS to send out all excursion and incursion notices and permission notes. Parents can give consent and pay via COMPASS making the whole process quick and easy. If you are not sure of your COMPASS login details please contact the office and they will be able to assist you. GETTING TO KNOW YOU INTERVIEWS Last reminder to parents to organise an interview with your child’s new teacher being conducted on Monday 17 th Feb from 4:00 to 6:00pm and Tuesday 18 th February 4:00 – 7:30pm Information about the booking process was sent out on COMPASS last week. If you are having any trouble with the book- ing process please contact the office for help. Interviews are for 10 minutes only and parents should take this opportunity to share information about their children with teachers. It is not an interview where teachers report on academic progress. Throughout the year parents can arrange further meetings with teachers at a mutually agreed time. SCIENCE EXTENSION PROGRAM 2020

This year, we are offering a Science Extension Program to selected students across the school. The purpose of this program is to further extend those students who are working above the expected standard in Science and to support the development of their Science Inquiry Skills. These selected students will participate in this program for one term only. In Term 1, we have a small group of Grade 1 students participating each Wednesday and also giving up part of their lunchtimes to explore their interest in Science. Students will be learning how to make predictions, observe results and offer explanations while investigating a range of fun and engaging experiments.

FIRST WORKING BEE OF 2020

We hold a working bee every term. The next one will be on Sunday 16th February. Whether you can stay the whole three hours from 9 to midday or just drop by for thirty minutes there's plenty to do and all helpers, children and adults, are welcome and appreciated. It's a great way to meet other families. Sharing a sausage and a few laughs around the BBQ at the end really brings home what a great community we have around our school. All you need is a pair of hands but if you have them the most useful tools are; wheelbarrow, shovel, rake, broom, gloves, secateurs and a TRAILER. Typical jobs - moving mulch, tidying garden beds, clearing paths and drains, raking leaves and soft-fall. This term we're going to join forces with the Sustainability Squad and give the vegetable garden above the Prep buildings a big tidy. Love to see you there, even if you have only half an hour to spare.
