Message from the Principal
Wow! Even the groundhogs are confused. Fifty-three degrees and no
snow on the ground in February? While my heart goes out to the skiers
and snowmobilers, my back is most grateful that it is not shoveling.
National Catholic Schools Week is drawing to a close. We hope that
your children enjoyed joining with our friends, families and colleagues
in America’s more than 7,000 Catholic schools to celebrate our common
mission. At St. Pius X it is a time for us to rejoice in who we are and
celebrate being a part of Catholic schools. Along with pajama days,
pancake breakfasts, bowling and perhaps a movie with popcorn,
students continued to bring in food items for The Sacred Heart Food
Pantry, donate a dollar to wear their favorite hat to help the children in
a new school in Haiti, and write cards to shut-ins and those in hospitals.
The week ends on Friday, February 3rd with a school Mass at 9:00 a.m.
We hope you can join us.
As parents, your continued commitment to your child’s education and
spiritual growth, not only during Catholic Schools Week, but every
week of the year, reinforces the gospel values that we hold dear. We
thank you for the
sacrifices that you make to send your children to St. Pius X and for your
faith in us.
On behalf of our faculty and staff, we wish
everyone a blessed February and a very Happy
Valentine’s Day.
Yours in Christ,
Dennis Mullahy

Did you know that St. Pius X Middle School students are among the very top performing students in the Capital Region on the N.Y.S. Assessments in mathematics, science, Eng-lish language arts and social studies?
Did you know that each year our 8
th grade graduates earn thousands of dollars in aca-
demic scholarships to high schools throughout the region? Did you know that our Middle School offers advanced courses and the N.Y.S. Regents in
math and science (Integrated Algebra and Biology)? Did you know that St. Pius X graduates are usually placed in Spanish II when they enter
high school? Did you know that many of our St. Pius X graduates go on to compete and star on athletic
teams in many of the public and non-public high schools they attend? Did you know that while our Middle School students are prepared very well academically
for high school, they continue to hear the Word of God each day, attend Masses and Eu-charistic Adoration together, perform Christian Works and Service, and develop their faith in a very safe and caring environment.
Did you know that for all these reasons and more, each year families of our Middle School
students ask us when St. Pius X School will add a high school of its own?
Our program begins at 6:00pm in the school’s upper wing near the principal’s office. Teacher presentations in each subject area will begin every 20 minutes. Please join us to meet our dedicated teachers and learn why St. Pius X School graduates are welcomed into their new high schools.

“PRAY WITHOUT CEASING.” I THESSALONIANS 5:17
Upcoming Activities and Dates to Remember:
Gracious God, when my life is moving
along at break-neck speed, I feel so
distracted from the things that are
really important to my heart and soul.
It seems like my lack of focus keeps me
from paying attention to what really
nourishes me. Help me learn to give less
priority to what only leaves me feeling
empty. Remind me that when I give pri-
ority to what is really important every-
thing else falls into place with greater
ease. I ask this for the sake of your
love. Amen.
