A Message from the Student, Teacher, Parent Committee (STPC) I am very happy to share that the postponed Sport-A-Rama for 7th graders and Color Teams for 8th graders are happening this school year! Our school has faced much transition this year, but the teachers, staff and the Principal want to make sure that the students feel safe and loved at their "home-away-from-home." The voices of parents are being heard and supported by the staff, and the entire RVMS community is working together so the students can continue to enjoy and benefit from the longstanding traditions and school culture at RVMS. It has also been recognized that families are still in the process of recovering from trauma due to the fires. 💃 Rincon Valley Middle School Dance Instructions" Helpful Hints from RVMS Assistant Principal Amy Sather, [email protected], (707)528-5255

❖ The dance will go from 3:15 - 5:00. Students will not have time to go home prior to the dance. Once students enter the dance they must stay for the entire dance. *See leaving early below.

❖ On the day of the dance students should leave everything in their hall locker, (including cell phones!) The hall doors will be unlocked after the dance so students can get their things before leaving.

❖ Dances are sock hops so all students should come to school with an extra pair of socks. (These will be destroyed by the end of the evening. So un-matching, odds and ends are great!)

❖ Students can bring clothes to change into, (be sure the clothes meet the dress code) and items to freshen up with. These items, (and their socks) should be placed in their PE locker during the school day.

❖ We will have a snack bar so money is the only thing that can be brought into the dance. No cell phones or cameras are allowed- they get lost and broken in jumpies etc.

❖ You will not be allowed back into the locker rooms so don’t forget your money! ❖ Tickets are pre-sale only. ❖ There is no access to the stage area at dances. Song requests should be submitted online line to the DJ Dax

at: www.daxentertainment.com/ ❖ Students acting inappropriately at dances will be removed from the dance, and given disciplinary

consequences which may include losing the privilege of attending future dances. Students are also subject to the full school disciplinary consequences listed in the student planner.

‼ If a student needs to leave early: 1. The student should bring a note to the office at the beginning of the school day. 2. Students are responsible for watching the clock in the gym. 3. It is the student’s responsibility to meet parents at the dance boundary line, in front of the snack

bar, at the designated time. 4. We will escort students to get their things out of the lockers, after they have made contact with

parents. So please allow a few extra minutes to access both the PE and hall lockers.

Sport-A-Rama March 9! Get ready for a one-of-a-kind RVMS event! The annual Sport-A-Rama will be held on March 9 (Fri.) from 6 - 8 p.m. at the RVMS Gym. This is a fun-filled night for our 7th graders AND their families. Four colored teams will participate in a variety of exciting and creative relay races.

8th grade Color Teams! Another RVMS tradition, the "Color Teams," have begun! The 8th graders started a BINGO guessing game this week to help them figure out which color team they are on. The teams will be competing in a variety of events that emphasize student participation. Each team has a teacher as a coach and a student team captain. On February 27 all 8th grade students will play games to celebrate the COLOR TEAM KICK OFF. School spirit, athletic and academic events take place until mid-April. The color teams that participated most and won the most events get the grand prize. The STPC and Summerfield Theatre host a MOVIE and PIZZA fieldtrip in early May! Good luck to all color teams! - RVMS Science teacher Laurel Varnbuhler, [email protected]

  • Save the "Carnival"! Coordinator urgently needed to keep RVMS tradition alive!

Every year, RVMS holds a "Carnival" in May for students to celebrate the end of the school year. It's a long-standing RVMS tradition rewarding ALL students for their hard work. This school year, we are in desperate need of a parent volunteer to help organize this event that offers fun activities and food booths for students. This Carnival Coordinator will work with staff to determine booth needs and find and organize donations and volunteers. The coordinator will also organize vendors for additional booths and provides students with tickets. If you like to throw a party, or simply like giving kids a great time, this job is for you! You can even share the job responsibility with a friend (or friends) if you don't want to do it alone! Without your support, we will be unable to offer this event this year. Please take a moment to consider stepping up so we can give our students a much-needed fun at the end of this school year. If you can help, please contact STPC President Shaina Sovel at [email protected]. Thank you for your consideration!

    Athletic News Volleyball goes undefeated!

Volleyball enjoyed a perfect season. Both the 7th and 8th grade teams went undefeated in the North Valley League. It was a combination of hard work, dedication and high Volleyball skill. This group of girls were very easy to coach and I enjoyed having them all season. - RVMS P.E. teacher & Volleyball Coach Chris Woodbury, [email protected]

    Basketball success!

7th grade boys basketball were dialed in from day one. This group was very talented and worked well together on and off the court. They had an undefeated season, stayed focused in tough games and never let the other team get under their skin. This group represented RVMS well.

The 8th graders learned from their experiences on the court and grew as a team. Their determination led them to many victories the second half of the season.
