It sounds like we might have another sunny weekend ahead of us as well. Sure signs that Spring is coming! With that being said, it is time to start preparing for your clothing and communications events and getting your livestock identified in 4HOnline. If you plan to exhibit livestock, and missed last months newsletter, please be sure to go back to our website and check it out. If you need tags for your animals to identify them, please let me or your club leaders know so we can get those to you. Tags for sheep and goats are $1.25 per tag and tags for beef are $1.50 per tag. Looking for something to do this Saturday? Calhoun County Extension and Outreach, Calhoun County Conservation, and Calhoun County Soil and Water Conservation District are partnering together to offer a youth ice fishing opportunity at Roos Pond, (Highway 4 Recreational Area) located just south of Rockwell City on Highway 4 on Saturday, February 29. This free event will run from 1:00-3:00 P.M. Participants are asked to dress for the cold weather and come prepared to have a great time on the ice. Families are encouraged to attend together for this event. A few poles and bait will be provided as well as a small shelter on the ice. Feel free to bring your own poles if you would like. Reminder, there are still around 20 Clover Kids pendingin 4HOnline. Please submit your $15 enrollment fee to our office to finalize your childs enrollment. Once this has been paid, your account will be activated. Please be aware, you will not be able to identify your livestock or sign up for clothing and communication events until this is done! I hope everyone had a chance to enjoy the nice weather we had

last weekend. It sounds like we might have another sunny

Clover Kids Clothing and Communications Day

NEW FOR 2020! Clover Kids will now be able to participate with the older 4-H’ers on Clothing

and Communications Day judging on April 25. Clover Kids will have the option to participate in

the $15 Challenge, Clothing Selection, and Share the Fun. Rules for each of these classes can

be found below.

Division- Clover Kids Clothing and Communication Events

Members may enter 1 project from each of the available classes for Clothing and Communica-

tion judging. Member must be enrolled in the Calhoun County Clover Kids program to partici-

pate. All Clover Kids Clothing and Communications exhibits will be awarded participation

ribbons. No premiums or placing will be awarded.

Class 4100– Clover Kids $15 Challenge. Clover Kids will purchase and model an outfit of

their choice that costs $15 or less. Clothing must be a second-hand outfit and purchased from

either a garage sale, consignment store, Goodwill, Salvation Army, or similar type place.

Member will talk with a judge about how and why they selected their outfit. Receipts must be

provided as well.

Class 41001– Clover Kids Clothing Selection. Clover Kids will purchase any outfit of their

choice and model their outfit for a judge. The outfit can be purchased new or used and no price

limit is set. The outfit should be for a ‘theme’ of the member’s choice. Such as: casual clothing,

sports clothing, swimwear clothing, special event clothing, etc. Member will talk with the judge

about how and why they selected their outfit. Receipts must be provided as well.

Class 41002– Clover Kids Share the Fun. Clover Kids will have an opportunity to perform

before an audience, purely for the sake of enjoyment and fun! Think of this as a talent show!

Performances can be skits, songs, stunts, short one act play, dances, etc. Clover Kids Share

the Fun can be done solo or in a small group of 2-4 Clover Kids members. After their

performance, members will talk with a judge about how they prepared for the performance.

Instructions for making entries for Clothing and Communication Events

Registration for Clothing and Communication events will be done online with the FairEntry

website. Registration will open on Friday, March 20 and close at 11:59 P.M. on Monday, April 13.

To make your entries, please go to www.fairentry.com/Fair/SignIn/13960. To log in, click on the

green box that says “Sign in with 4HOnline.” You will then need to enter the same email address

and password that you use for your 4HOnline account. Your child’s information should show up

once you get logged in if you have done everything correct. To add entries, you will first select

“Clover Kids” under the department and then select division “430 Clothing and Communications.”

The list of available classes for Clover Kids will then be available to choose from. Reminder, each

child may participate in 1 exhibit for each of the available classes.

After April 13, a schedule for the day will be sent to each exhibitor who signs up to participate in

this day. You will be given a set, scheduled time to come and meet with the judge and present

your exhibit(s) on April 25. Judging will take place at the SCC Middle School in Rockwell City.

Save the dates for the following camps that will be offered to Clover Kids in Calhoun County this

summer. More details, locations, and registration information to come this Spring. Please watch

your newsletters for this information. Registration will begin in May.

May

We will have a large group event for all Calhoun County Clover Kids and their families. After the

event, Fairbooks will be available and I will be available to answer your questions. More

information to come in April.

June

6th– Livestock Showmanship Clinic at the Calhoun County Fairgrounds

17th– Clover Kids Multi-county Day Camp at Plover Pit in Pocahontas County

30th– 2nd and 3rd grade Kids in the Kitchen Day Camp

July

21st– Clover Kids Dinosaur Day Camp

August

3rd– Clover Kids Robotics Day Camp

The following Summer Camps will also be available for Clover Kids who are currently in 3rd

grade and entering into 4th grade in the Fall of 2020.

June

11th– Spa/Yoga Day Camp

24th– Minecraft/Tech Day Camp

July

15th– Grossology Day Camp

29th– WISE Day Camp

Fair Camping

Reservations for camping spots for 4-H, Clover Kids, and FFA families are being taken now.

Spots will fill fast again this year so please call the office at 712-297-8611 or email

[email protected] if you would like to reserve a space for this summer’s fair. Reminder: the fair

is July 8-12 and camping spaces are $15 per day and include full electrical and water hook-up.

You will be required to pay for your space prior to the week of fair to secure your spot.
