and Cherry Creek long before the gold rush. Tom will discuss the Indian wars and the arrival of many different groups (Germans, Irish, Italians, English, Hispanics, African Americans, etc.). He will focus on transportation systems—railroads, automobiles, aviation—and on some of the outstanding women and minorities who shaped the city. In partnership with Temple Emanuel.

Those Who Remained at the Denver Jewish Film FestivalJCC Denver 350 S. Dahlia Street, DenverCost: $10Denver’s premier of Hungary’s submission for the 2020 Foreign Language Oscar is a lyrical story of the healing power of love in the midst of conflict, loss and trauma. It reveals the healing process of Holocaust survivors through the eyes of a young
girl in post-World War II Hungary.
Having survived the camps, 42-year old Aldo lives a solitary life as a doctor in Budapest. Sixteen year old, Klara, who reluctantly lives with her great-aunt, holds on to hope that her father and mother will return. She meets Aldo and soon the two of them find something in each other that has long been absent in their lives. As they grow closer, the joy in both of their lives slowly returns. But as the Soviet Empire rises to power in Hungary, their pure and loving father-daughter relationship is misunderstood and frowned upon.
Join a post-screening talk back led by University of Denver film scholar and Denver Jewish Film Festival Film Selection Committee member, Diane Waldman. In partnership with JCC Denver.
