D ear Fearless Family,

Fear is rooted in lies the Devil tells us. When a lie is believed, it cracks open the door for fear to

enter our hearts and minds. We must not allow fear to push us around. Don’t put up with it! It’s a crippling spirit from the oth-er kingdom that the Bible tells us is not from God.

2 Timothy 1:7 (NLT) For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

We need to take responsibility for our problems and stop blaming others for our misery. If we entertain fear consistently, we’ll develop multiple excuses to cover for it. Stand against the wiles of the Devil. The Lord Jesus Christ did and so can we.

Jesus tells us in Matthew 28:20 (NIV), “… and surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” He said in John 8:31-32 (ESV), “... If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, 32and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Anxiety, worry, intimidation, rejection and panic attacks are rooted in fear. It gets us to run away from things we should confront, prevents progress in every area of life and causes emotional as well as physical suffering.

1 John 4:18 (KJV) There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath tor-ment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

Norman Vincent Peale said, “When you are afraid, do the thing you are afraid of and soon you will lose your fear of it.”

When our Katie was small... she was timid and easily afraid. She wouldn’t speak up and tended to ignore anyone she didn’t know. Family members would say that she was shy or was taking after the personality traits of other relatives. (continued on page 2)

(continued from page 1)

But we didn’t yield to those ideas. We kept clarity with the word of God.

Joshua 1:9 (NIV) Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.

Jeff and I made a deliberate deci-sion to enroll Katie in piano les-sons. Each year culminated with a performance at a col-lege where they played a song on the baby grand piano in front of a packed au-ditorium. She learned to prepare and to stand against fear. It taught her to control her mind and push through no mat-ter what she felt like. She went on that stage at five years old and played “The Muf-fin Man” with her feet dangling from the piano bench. I can still picture her smil-ing happily as she bowed with the crowd applauding.

Little did she know, she had chosen faith and not fear when faced with no option but to perform. When she had been backstage waiting, I told her what my flute teacher had told me for years - “It’s okay to be nerv-ous but not afraid.” The reality was this - she was afraid, but she made up her mind to push through and DO!

God’s family shouldn’t run from fear. We face it and go forward with courage or it will control us and lead us by emotions based on wrong thinking. We use the Word of God to clear out confu-sion; then we’re able to identify choices and make deliberate deci-sions. Even though we may feel fear, we must refuse to live in fear.

Dale Carnegie said, “You can con-quer almost any fear if you will only make up your mind to do so. For remember, fear doesn’t exist any-where except in your mind.” Fear is not from God. With the power of the Holy Spirit, we can resist it and

choose not to let it affect our deci-sions.

David said in Psalms 23:4 (NIV), “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”

Jesus Christ was focused on the Father and his will. He was a living example of Jeremiah 29:13 (NIV), “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”

Fear is often born out of jealousy... afraid that we’ll be left out or that we’ll have to do without something we want and others have. I often hear people talk about what they don’t have or how their life is not

what they want it to be. They spend their time in anxiety and worry, trying to make something hap-pen merely from their own planning.

Proverbs 16:9 (NIV) In their hearts humans

plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps.

If people try to tell you what to do and how to do it, your spiritual radar should wave a red flag. Do they live a godly life with profitable spiritual fruit? What comes out of their mouths? Good wise counsel and recommendations come from people whose mouths are subject to their hearts and whose hearts are subject to the Word of God.

Luke 6:45 (NIV) A good man brings good things

out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.

Fear is a mental distraction that we can’t afford to entertain. Let’s re-buke it and cast it aside. What kind of useless things steal our time with the Lord and distract us from God’s presence? Our enemy wants to steal, kill and destroy. We mustn’t let him steal the seeds of the Word of God that we’ve sown into our

hearts.

Mark 4:14-20 (NIV) “The farmer sows the word. 15Some people are like seed along the path, where the word is sown. As soon as they hear it, Satan comes and takes away the word that was sown in them. 16Others, like seed sown on rocky places, hear the word and at once receive it with joy. 17But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes

because of the word, they quickly fall away. 18Still others, like seed sown among thorns, hear the word; 19but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the de-sires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruit-ful. 20Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop—some thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times what was sown.”

God will lead us out of our fears if we are meek in our hearts and obe-dient to his word. Choices are all around us, but the most basic of

spiritual choices is either faith or fear. Have courage. Stand against fear in faith and see the promises of God explode in your life.

Never Fear, Jesus is Here!

Tonia Tonia Shroyer CFF President

“She learned to prepare and to stand against fear. It taught her to control her mind and push through,

no matter what she felt like.”

The most basic of spiritual choices is

either faith or fear.

own righteousness was as filthy rags, and the sooner we dis-cerned this and cast them aside, the sooner our blood-bought new nature could emerge unencumbered (Isaiah 64:6; Philippians 3:9).

We need no self-justification. And that’s good news because, in truth, there can be none. God did not send us a life coach to help us refine our flesh for a few upgrades. He knew our desperate and hope-less condition long before we did. So he sent us, not a life coach, but

the Savior, the Lamb of God to take away the sins of the world (John 1:29). There is blood on your door post, saint. And the destroyer of this world must pass over (Exodus 12:22-23). Accept nothing less, ever. You are free. And as you lift the cup, “Do this,” he said, “in remem-

brance of me.”

Oh friend, let’s remember him! His sacrifice, his cleansing blood, his fearless advance into his own death for each of us. When he said, “I go to prepare a place for you,” he knew what that would cost (John 14:2-3). And he shared why he did it. He said that you may be “where I am.” When he comes, these reali-ties will be face-to-face (1 Corinthi-ans 13:12). Until then we power-fully show his death until he comes. And healing, deliverance and joy flow like rivers of living water in our bodies, our souls and our world.

Take. At times, this word has a negative connotation. I don’t want

to be a “taker,” you might say. We remember that he said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” But that more blessed state about which he spoke occurs in our horizontal relationships. It is great truth. But in our communion, what does he ask us to do? Take. How can we give if we don’t re-ceive? Our ability to love is completely dependent on receiv-ing from him. In our flesh dwells no good thing. So if we are to be the givers we would like to be, we’d better learn to re-ceive. And how is this done in communion? Take. Eat. In this context, be a taker! Take, and take, and take some more! He said, “He that eats my flesh and drinks my blood dwells in me and lives by me” (John 6:56,57).

It’s very humbling to realize that not only was our natural condition so desperate, but the cost to fix it was so astound-ingly high. You are free.

L et’s discern together. Discern what? The Lord’s body. I want to ask you to take a phrase from the scripture very personally. It is from Jesus to you: “This is my body which is broken for you.” Please

ask God for fresh revelation of this truth, that you may see the love of your Savior for you (see 1 Corinthians 11:23-30). As you discern the love and power imparted in the giving of the Lord’s body for you, darkness, sickness, weakness, and even death are banished to their defeated state in your life. You have nothing to fear in this world, ever, be-cause you are SO loved.

All weakness, all sin, all sickness and all lack of eve-ry kind crashed into the cross where he took these things into his sinless body – for you. These calamities died in the body of your Savior. They fell powerless into the grave, and when he rose in vic-tory, they stayed behind, perma-nently defeated. He took them out of the way, nailing them to his cross.

This discerning, this fresh revela-tion, this connection with his great love are a constant in our lives. God knows that assaults and temptations will come again and again. So he made provision. Like a loving mom for her school child, he packed you a lunch! Only this meal is life to your body, healing to your soul, and freedom from all guilt and condemnation. Communion. Not just any communion. Your communion. Your communion with God and his wonderful son Jesus is a personal discerning, a set-ting aside, a fully separating out this amazing love and its gift from many demands on your time and attention.

At our home, the cup is always in view and ready. My wife or I will say “want to have communion?” The answer is always “Yes!” And so we partake often. And when we do, we show the Lord’s death. It’s as if it happened yesterday. We show the Lord’s death until he comes. Visions, revelations, dis-cerning – the Lord abides with us in this memorial.

Wine. Remembrance. The cup. This cup is the new cove-nant in his blood. This covenant of the Savior’s blood is the covenant under which we dwell in righteousness. We brought nothing to this relationship but our “Yes, Lord.” Our

He erased the certificate of debt, with its obligations, that was against us and opposed to us, and has taken it away by nailing it to the cross. Colossians 2:14 (CSB)

T his past August I was asked to be a part of the team that would be implementing the new interior updates of the CFF church design and renovation project. It was challenging and

rewarding at the same time. The core crew chosen by Pastor Tonia and the board were fun to work with, and I learned a lot from their expertise.

The interior of the church had not been updated since it was dedicat-ed in June 1998. The update included all new LED light fixtures, a repair and re-spray of the ceilings, fresh paint, fireplace update, lev-eling the stage, new carpet, new office and lobby furniture, wall tile for the bathrooms along with vanities/hardware, updated audio/video wiring and a new sign at the front of the property.

The site exterior also received new LED fixtures, including spotlights shining on the front of the building, flag and front sign. The old land-scaping around the building and guesthouse next door were stripped out and Flory’s Landscaping of Greenville took a week to install irri-gation, plants and trees. We are excited to see what will bloom in springtime!

When I read the list of what needed to be done, this verse came to mind, “… Jesus looked at them and said, ‘With men this is impossi-ble; but with God all things are possible’” (Matthew 19:26, NIV).

To pack all of these renovations into a twelve-week schedule while still having service on Sundays seemed impossible.

Many people faithfully invested time and finances to help us complete this huge undertaking.

Thank you! We’re grateful for all of you!

There are more projects to be done in the lower level and on the grounds, but we know that God’s grace will see us through those, too.

Sid Helmus had told me at the beginning of this project that it was more than a remodel… This is a time to be thank-ful for the blessings and healings that have hap-pened in this building over the past twenty-two years. Those words brought to mind John and Mary Lou Shroyer, Mike and Judi Magel, Wilf and Lene Bruns and the many others who have dedi-cated their time and hearts to the construction and upkeep of this beautiful building and grounds over the years.

I’m thankful to be a part of the next generation that will continue on with the legacy of family, fellowship and healing centered around God’s word.

It was a true honor to be a part of this project. The friendship and kindness shown by all, as we la-bored together, brought this verse to mind, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans” (Proverbs 16:3, NIV).

shared with me that she didn’t know this is what she needed in her life. Her brother shook his head in agreement. They were so touched that they asked their parents if they could all move to our town!

That afternoon in a cloudless sky, a rainbow appeared over the courthouse where we were worshiping. People were inspired by the time together, asking us when we would do it again.

We used Flat Rock Park for the next gathering. People were again moved by the experience, but the park ranger became irritated. He said that we were too loud and told us that we couldn’t use any amplifica-tion the next day. Many of the worship team mem-bers prayed for him. The next day, the same park ranger returned like a different person! His kindness had blossomed overnight; we were allowed to use amplification. Only God works in people’s hearts like that.

In October, I looked into a venue in Brevard, a nearby

town. The lady in charge said “absolutely not” be-cause of COVID-19 con-cerns, but she had to in-form the police depart-ment of our request.

The next day she emailed me and said the police chief

wanted to talk with me. When I called, he asked that we meet. At the

meeting, he said he wanted the event to happen and that we should pick a place. We were approved!

In every venue, God and Jesus went before us, opened doors, worked on hearts, waved fees and showed up every time. We have had five outside events. Atmospheres have changed, seventeen-year-olds have sat and spoken to us about Jesus. A home-less drug addicted man sat and wept. When we asked him what he needed he said, “to be saved.” Every time opposition has come, it has been over-come by the Kingdom.

One time the worship team forgot their microphone. We asked a nearby brewery and they responded, “Take ours and use it.” God sent people to speak and prophecy flowed. Another rainbow in a cloud ap-peared over the courthouse. Once we had children worshiping with flags while their leader shared with them the Hebrew meanings of each color and the name of God it represented.

While working with some local businesses to present praise music in their stores, I struggled to get enough bands to fill the venues. But soon, one of the worship team ladies suggested that we consider the local Echo Mountain Inn facility. I recall saying out loud

that I will check it out soon; but then felt God saying, “Why don’t you go now?

When I told the owner about our recent praise activities, she said, “We just wrote on our calendar two days ago that we need to do worship here.” Wow, talk about Jesus going before you! We will soon be there, on top of a mountain looking down over the cities, praising and worshiping… breaking powers and principalities.

Just say “Yes!” to whatever God asks. Take that first step. He will go before you, walk with you, overcome every opposition, and provide whatever is needed to carry out his vision. Your trust in him will increase as he takes you from glory to glory in his loving presence. Just say, “Yes Lord whatever you want!”

I ’ve heard it said that God often takes the lemons of life and makes lemonade out of them. I’ve seen this is true. My husband Eric and I

live in Hendersonville, North Carolina. God has blessed us. We have five boys and thirteen grandchildren.

An amazing time in my Christian journey start-ed in 2013, although I didn’t realize it at the time. My mom and dad both be-came very ill. My dad died in 2016 and my mom the next year when she quit dialysis. I was a broken per-son. In my sorrow I began to seek God like never before.

During a time of praise in a local church, God stirred some special things in my life. I felt that I had a unique en-counter with the Lord Jesus who spoke to me — “I am going to come and heal your broken heart.” With open arms he en-gulfed me and healed my heart. Then he danced with me through two songs. It was an experience I’ll nev-er forget. I wanted more — to know Jesus more — so I began asking for him, long-ing for him with a burning desire. I began asking him to give me assignments.

In March of 2020, God be-gan to give me puzzle piec-es, but I couldn’t figure out how they fit together. They came as words, an article, a picture, a book. I read about Azusa Street and dwelling in God’s presence and love.

Then in June, God woke me up at 2 AM and gave me a download. “Love and Praise Unlimited,” a com-munity praise experience, was born for the streets of my town and surround-ing areas.

The first singing event was held on the courthouse lawn of our own Hender-sonville. The praise reached people walking along the streets. Visitors from two hours away, a 14 and 10-year-old, stood weeping. They had melted with tears of joy and longing in the atmos-phere of praise . The 14-year-old

a roaring lion your adversary the dev-il prowls around, looking for some-one to devour.

Eventually the culprits were appre-hended. Before the legal case went to court. I was subpoenaed to testify in preparation for the trial. All the victims

had to come to the courthouse to meet with prosecutors. There were about twenty-seven of us packed into a con-

ference room for several hours, each waiting our turn to be interviewed by the lawyers.

As we chatted, we discov-ered that all of the robberies were similar - except one. Among all of the robbery victims, there was only one male victim. His name was John. They had robbed his

jewelry store a year earlier, shot him five times and left him for dead. He was a Christian who knew that it was only because of Jesus that he was still alive.

The conference room was silent. “We must stop them!” John cried. “These are not just thieves, they are stone cold murderers!”

A week later, my turn came to be in a courtroom filled with gang members. The witness stand was only a few feet from the three criminals. I couldn’t help but think that these were the men who

I t was a beautiful spring afternoon. The air was cool and crisp. The sun was shining and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. I was just stepping

outside of one of my favorite stores. My heart was light and full of joy. There were smiling shoppers everywhere. It was one of those perfect days.

Then in an instant, that perfect day turned upside down.

My car was parked right in front of the store. I was standing next to it and sud-denly I couldn’t move. I found myself pinned against the door. Someone was behind me wrapping one arm around my neck and holding my face with his hand. I couldn’t turn my head. His other arm was wrapped around my waist pressing a gun into my stomach. A voice hissed in my ear, “Give me the ring; give me the ring!

It took me a second to understand what was happening. As I twisted off my ring, I began to pray in my heart for God’s protection. Then I thought, “What if he is on drugs and accidentally pulls the trigger?” Pushing that thought out, I asked God, “What do I do?” “Stay still; don’t struggle” was what came to my mind.

The man grabbed my ring, then whis-pered in my ear, “If you scream, I will kill you.” Then he released me. As I turned around, all I saw was his back as he disappeared around a corner. I was still surrounded by the same shoppers from a moment before, but the joy of shopping had left their faces. They had been within feet of me, seeing it all happen.

These robberies continued in Atlanta for weeks, soon becoming big news.

Over several days, I found myself struggling to over-come the fear that I felt, so I called our wonderful minis-try pastor at the time, John Shroyer. He prayed with me in Jesus’ powerful name, and the fear left my heart. He shared with me his testimony of how the devil would attack him with lies trying to tempt him to fear. He reas-sured me that he and the church were there for me day or night. I was at peace again, mindful of what a loving home church I had.

But that isn’t the end of my story.

had shot John. On the stand the lawyer asked me to say my name for the court and to spell it out for the record. As the perpetrators all glared at me, the fear returned to knock at my door.

While driving home that day, I thought, “They all know my name and where I

live. What if one of their gang members comes after me for testifying?” That thought kept surfac-ing.

A few days later, I was notified that the jury reached a guilty verdict. They were all sentenced to life in prison. But in-stead of being relieved that they were in jail, I struggled with thoughts of retribution from their gang.

Right away, I reconnected with Pastor John and he helped me once again. I was able to forgive those who had wronged me, and John and I prayed for them.

Psalm 118:17 (ESV) I shall not die, but I shall live, and recount the deeds of the Lord.

That was 17 years ago. Two lessons stand out to me from that experience. There are times when we may come under attack from fear, sickness, finan-cial crisis, to name a few; all initiated by the Evil One. That assault can wound us so deeply that we need to be shielded, healed and strengthened by our church household until we can stand on our own two feet again. Christian Family Fellowship Ministry did that for me.

The other related lesson for me is that the financial support that we share to-ward ministry efforts keeps our pasto-ral leaders available to those in need. Our gifts enable them to overflow time and resources to others, providing ac-cess to our spiritual family and to all the love and blessings it has to offer.

THANK YOU for Macie’s Limo!

Your financial gifts have funded the replacement of our old bus that served us through many years of activities, especially our annual Youth Excelling Spiritually camps. It’s named in honor of our

beloved camper, Macie Schroeder who is sleeping in Jesus, awaiting his return. The youth who ride this vehicle into Christian maturity will also meet

Macie face-to-face at the Lord’s appearing!

Angels & Miracle Healings presents a foundation of the Scriptures about

angels and miracle healings. It also gives firsthand testimonies of supernatural events

from witnesses who have had encounters with angels and those who have experienced

miraculous healings.

These are witnesses of all ages and backgrounds who have personally experienced

the power of God. In their own words, they describe the supernatural events that they

have seen and heard. The Magels also include many testimonies of events they have

personally been involved in as ministers. Our hope is that Angels & Miracle Healings

will inspire you and bring you to an even greater realization of the presence of God‘s

ministering angels and of his great power in signs, miracles and wonders today.

Michael and Judith Magel, the couple that gave us the book, God Shots, are introducing this exciting book that shows the significance of angels in our lives and that miracle healings are not uncommon! The “Merry Magels“ have ministered healing through-out the United States and many other countries around the world. They are both ordained clergy, and Michael is one of the original founders of Christian Family Fel-lowship Ministry (www.cffm.org), in Tipp City, Ohio. Their desire in writing this book is that you may realize the mighty presence of God‘s angels and the powerful working of the Holy Spirit in the lives of people from all walks of life – just like you.
