Welcome to Our Tiger Talks
Do you remember this year’s three
CAIS School Goals?
Improve Literacy
Strengthen our Sense of Community
Celebrate our Progress Along the Way
Do you remember
your individual CMT goal?
Individual CMT Goals…Level 1→ Level 2
Level 2 → Level 3
Level 3 → Level 4
Level 4 → Level 5
Level 5 → Remain at Level 5 and improve your raw score
Let’s take a little “photo walk”, compliments of
our resident photographer, Mrs. Richters
Do you know what I see
when I look at these pictures?
I see students who know nothing is
impossible…
I see students who can do
anything they set their minds
to…
I see potential and hope…
I see heart, brains
and courage…
I see determination
and commitment…
I see talent and poise…
I see strength and
perseverance…
I see students who value their
education…
I see our future doctors, lawyers, teachers,
firefighters and soldiers…
I see students who want to do their
best…
I see students that have big
plans for the future…
I see students who know hard work pays off…
I see students that
I am proud to know…
I see beautiful young
people who deserve the
best…
I see “MY KIDS”…
I am so proud of what I see in and
around the Intermediate
School!
I am so proud of all of
you!
In fact, I want everyone to know
what’s happening here…
I want everyone to know
what “MY KIDS” can do…
I need your help
to get this wonderful message
out!
One way you can help me get this
message out is to reach your individual
CMT goals!
Remember your individual CMT goals…
Level 1→ Level 2
Level 2 → Level 3
Level 3 → Level 4
Level 4 → Level 5
Level 5 → Remain at Level 5 and improve your raw score
I want you to know…
…in the past our school has not scored very
well on the CMT.
Our CMT scores have been below the
state average.
This surprises me, because there is nothing below average about
“MY KIDS”
Some people even make excuses as to why our scores are below average.
None of the
excuses are good enough
for me!
None of the excuses
are good enough for “MY KIDS”!
Don’t let the excuses
be good enough for you!
Let’s show them what we’re truly
capable of…
Let’s reach our individual
CMT goals!
Levels 1, 2, 3 & 4 , you simply need to move to the
next level!
Level 5’s, You need to stay
at Level 5 and improve
your raw score
If every student in our school reaches their
individual CMT goal…
…we would post the highest
CMT scores in this school
in more than 10 years.
Could 2009 be the year that our CMT scores surprise
everyone?
Connecticut Mastery Tests
(CMT)
Monday, March 2nd-Friday, March
13th
8 Things That You Must
Do To Reach Your
CMT Goals…
#1 Get a good night’s sleep
Research says kids your age should
get 10-11 hours of
sleep each night
# 2 Eat a healthy breakfast
Eat lots of protein (meat and eggs).
Avoid eating food with lots
of sugar!
#3 Arrive to school on time (8:05AM)
You cannot test with your classmates
if you are late to school
# 4 Believe in Yourself…
Remember we all have
what we need, we
simply need to figure it
out!
#5 Stay relaxed and focused during the
test.
# 6 Read all test
directions carefully
#7 Try your best
from start to finish
# 8 If time permits, go back and check your work!
Important CMT Message
Cell phones and electronic devices are not permitted in the classrooms during testing!
Cell phones and electronic
devices need to be left at home or in
your locker!
Let’s show the state that the Intermediate School has
what it takes!
From the bottom of my heart, I believe in each and every
one of you!
In addition to believing in
you, I believe in your
teachers!
So, I truly believe we can improve our
CMT scores…
one amazing student at a time!
Do you believe in yourself?
Visualize what you will look like when you are taking the
CMT!
Think about how great you
will feel if you do your
best on the CMT!
Think about how you will feel
when your parents open up your
scores in September!
Visualize being recognized in front of your classmates for moving up one level on the CMT!
CAIS has a picnic planned for September 2, 2009.
All students who reach their CMT goal will
be recognized at this picnic!
Think about how your future can be
improved by having strong
reading, writing, mathand science skills!
Think about how the CMT is preparation
for Middle
School, High School and College.
Visualize how it will feel
to be a part of surprising those who have made excuses!
Visualize being on
our “winning
team”!
So, CAIS Students…
I think it’s time for some theme music and our
mascot…
Let’s show em’ just how well we
can“MOVE”
our CMT scores!
Good Luck on the CMT!
Love, Ms. Youngberg
